LuxSport - you probably should be learning facts as well before opening your mouth. In 1999, Nissan was billions of dollars in the red. Renault bought a majority of Nissan's shares and saved them from further financial woes. How else could they have installed the french educated Carlos Ghosn at the helm and eventually lead them from the red and into the black. In fact, Renault initially owned 35% of Nissan but is now up to 44%.
So yes, by virtue of shares owned, Renault owns Nissan.
Also, your argument regarding luxury carmakers having to have a "RWD V8", what about Volvo and Saab? Last I checked, these marques are considered luxury brands. Neither has a "RWD V8".
I don't think any legitimate publication would make a claim as naive as luxury marques have to have a "RWD V8".
Check your facts! Or better yet, stop getting your car facts from Vogue or Good Housekeeping!

I'll let you answer that. Saab and Volvo sell how many car?? I'll let you answer that too. Real Luxury name plates are known for their flagships. LS430, S class, Q45, 7series, TownCar, Deville. What does these cars have in common??

Luxsport - you apparently have no idea how publicly traded companies work. By virtue of shares ownership, Renault has control of Nissan as though it owns it. As I have mentioned before, how else could Renault have installed their own person in Carlos Ghosn as CEO. In case you didn't know, that's how most companies in the US(or the world) operate.
And yes, should they decide to sell their shares(which is the majority, mind you) to another company, that company will have the same control over Nissan. That , in effect, constitutes a "sale". Can they get rid of them altogether? Probably not, because someone else will buy those shares and try to own as much as they can to gain control. I'll tell you something though, if Renault had not bought controlling interest over Nissan, they would probably be at receivership at this point, they were at 7 years of continued losses prior to Renault's purchase.

By the way, the same applies to your statement regarding who "owns" Volvo or Saab. GM has controlling interest in Saab and Ford has the controlling interest over Volvo. I'm disappointed that you have no basic idea how companies are "owned" by other companies.
With regards your other statement, yes , this is America and it is indeed the land of big engines and fast cars and big cars, but that does not dictate which manufacturers are considered luxury or not. Volvo or Saab are luxury marques because they build luxury cars, not because Ford(who builds Lincolns) has a stake at Volvo, or GM(who builds Caddys) has a stake at Saab!

By the way. why does it matter how many cars Volvo or Saab (or Acura for that matter)sells? Does that dictate which automaker should be considered luxury? Volvo and Saab probably don't post the same numbers as BMW or Mercedes, but i'm sure they sell more than Bentleys, does this mean Bentley is not a luxury marque?

Which V8 "Luxury" Sedan from Caddy is RWD??? Hm.. lets see.... NONE..... Seville STS = FWD, Deville DTS = FWD.... so what do they have in common as S-Class/7-Series??? NONE.... have you ever driven a S-Class?? Or 7-Series?? You get "Leather Seating Surface" in STS and DTS... but do you get the same treatments in S or 7-Series?? Hell no..... WHOLE seat is covered in leather, and so are door trims..... on S600/CL/750iL you even get FULL LEATHER INTERIOR..... which means just about everything is covered in leather/wood trim/suede...... Lexus builds alot of good car, mind you... and IMO, build quality is probably the best among all Japanese cars... but ask any one who owns/have owned and lived in a German cars.... they would tell you that German cars are superior in technical areas...... good example is 330i VS IS300/540i VS GS430/745i VS LS430..... which of those have better controled chassis/suspension?? I let you be the judge(s)....

And Lincoln Towncar?? Luxury?? Hm.... you are joking, right?? I would take a SAAB 9-5 Aero, or Volvo S80 over Towncar any day.....

G35 is not a bad car to begin with, but keep in mind that every car has its own pros/cons.... but there are alot of things that set apart a "Good Car" and a "Great Car"....... Sure MB C240/BMW 320i may be not as well equipped compare to TLS/G35 that costs less... but does that really make it a lesser car?? Of course not!! In Fact, they have tighter body rigidity/chassis than MOST Jap Cars you see on the road.....

Listen, I have no problems with Renaults or Nissans or Infinitis or ANY automaker. I think choosing who is a better car company is purely subjective. And I think thats the greatest thing because it allows automakers to compete for our subjective pick. In the end, the consumers turn out to be the real winners because we end up with better selection and ultimately, better products.
However, I do have a problem with people like you who act like know-it-all hotshots! I really think people should put some intellect into what they want to say before they say it.
I've read several of your posts and I have to say, they do follow a predictable pattern. You mentioned that your mom GAVE you your 3.5RL, well next time she wants to give you something, ask for something you really can use....like an EDUCATION!

Like I have said some poeple don't consider Acurana real Luxury nameplate. The RL is too soft, but I ain't complaining I got mine for free. Tempers fly in this forum when people are proved wrong, Chuchu still hasn't proven me wrong all though in his small mind he has.

And you know something else that is real funny. Less than 50% of the members to this site drive Acura TL's and yet there argue for a car they don't drive and cant afford .Why? Yes the TL was supposed to be my drive way but the RL was more of what Moms wanted.

I stated my education because some idiot members here called me uneducation and dumb.

Where did I say I was rich?? I never did. People in this forum love to put words in my mouth. I don't even have a job, but yet I am rich right.

The two main points that I proved were that Infinti is more reliable than Acura, luxury nameplates are known for their awesome (V8) flagships (Q45, LS430, Sclass, 7 series, Towncar). AND YET NOBODY HAS PROVED ME WRONG!!

But this forum is about fake leather and fake HIDs, we have established that the fake leather thing is in most cars. We also have established the RL has better leather than the TL.

Now lets go to who own who thing. If company Y ownes 44% of the shares of company X. Then yes they do have somewhat of a control over company X. And Company X owns 15% of Company Y. This a different from Ford and Mazda, where Ford just flat out owns them.

Nissan and Renault both were in trouble. Nissan almost bankrupt, Renault was 42% owned by the French government. Renault was scared of a hostile take over that was about to happen. So the two joined together. Now renault is using Nissan's plants, engineers, and materials to be Renault cars. No Renault parts are in Nissan cars. It is called the Nissan-Renault alliance.

Like I said people in this forum just assume or gues whatever they think is right without going out and reading.

First of all, you have YET to prove your points (the ones quoted above), which leads to my second point. The reason nobody has proved you wrong is because you haven't proved that you are right in the first place. Therefore, it is impossible for people to prove you wrong, especially since you have already done that yourself.

Again, I did ask you to point out which V8 Caddy sedan is RWD, did you?? Guess not.... have you ever drive, or even sit in an S-Class/7-Series/A8?? How can you even put Caddy and Towncar up there?? Even Q45's interior feels low-grade compare to S430, 745i, A8(especially 745i, and A8...current S-Class isn't as well put-together nor better quality in the interior compare to last gen S-Class)...

And boy you gonna be in alot of surprise for this one... Leather used in RL isn't much better than TL... maybe A Tick... but still same grade of leather... whatever you feel about the seat has to do with seat design itself, as well as how the leather were put together on the seats.... TL-P seats feels just as good as RL....

So, what's your point again???

This arguing is going no where. Under of discussion. My RL leather is nicer than the TL leather. My leather is more drier like BMW leather, while the TL leather is more shiny and rubbery(not to make fun) like the Accord leather.

LOL... can you define "Drier"?? LOL.... as for TL leather being "shiny", I don't really see what you trying to say... my friend has an RL, and I have TLS... I there are not much different between the 2 actually.... both are about the same grade.... like I said, how the leather stretch/cover the seat has alot to do with the perception of the leather... usually tight wrapped(aka TLS)makes the seat more "vinyl" because the leather is stretched..while gathered(TL-P/RL... you can tell by seeing "waves" OR "Wrinkles" on the seats)makes softer seats....softer = more luxurious feel....

Then again, we can go into how leather was processed during manufacturing.... and there are MORE than 2 types of leather.... which I ain't bother going into details....

I hate to attack on ppl, especially some one who's also a member on this site.... but yet, I see no point what-so-ever in most of your replies to this thread.....

Either you come up with some valid points again, and we can have more civilized arguements rather than "I am smarter, therefore no need further education no more" attitude.... OR.... FOREVER SHUT the FK up....

P.S. Have you tried Armourall Ultra Gloss in the car?? It will make just about every leather interior SHINY.... So SHINY that you would need sunglasses whenever you are sitting in the car with sun shining down.....
