Factory low beam replacement bulb
I've got a 99 TL, and the passenger side low beam Xenon bulb just went out. Where is the cheapest place to buy a bulb that will match? Ie, same color. Also, when that bulb went out, the drivers side bulb started acting up (Dimming, off-color). Could this be caused my the first bulb going out? Thanks in advance.

Let me ask this question then. If you guys were going to replace both factory low beam bulbs, what brand would you go with? Remember, I'm wanting to stay with the Xenon style bulbs. Also, I'd like something that will mount up with no mods.

63 views and one reply? Come on, guys. Honestly, I'm totally in the dark on this one. I can't find any that will match my low beams. PIAA doesn't make them, and I can't find the 6000k that blk_tl talked about.

I would try to find someone who has a D2r setup, and install the bulb in your housing and see if the bulb itself is the source of your problem. It is possible that you may have a ballast problem, or grounding issue-
I have the 6000k philips D2R bulbs and really like the output-

There we go. Thanks, a lot guys. If it turns out that it is the ballast, what's the best way to go? Find one in junkyard? Or do you guys know where you can get a cheaper one? Again, thanks for responses. This is really helping out.

Also forgot to mention this piece of info that may be vital in you guys helping me to determine the problem. When I first turn my headlights on, the bad one will flicker for just a second, then go off. Then, the one that is still working will look normal for about a minute, before it starts fading into a dim, yellowish color.

Yeah - a new 4000k bulb will look slightly goldish when brand new and get bluer and dimmer as they age. It has to do with the shape of the arc inside the capule changing because of metal transfer between the electrodes over time.
As far as what songoku wrote, you really should consider replacing both at the same time - otherwise they'll never match. You should try to get bulbs from the same manufacturing lot as well to help ensure a match. A lot of people on this board prefer 6000k bulbs, but remember that they do put out less light than the 4000k bulbs and are technically illegal for on-road use. In fact, after a few years your 4000k's will almost look like new 6000k's. It's just a matter of taste.
How would you check your ballast? Take both bulbs out and swap them. If the passenger side still does not light up and the drivers side does, then both bulbs are good.
