Factory bra

What are your opinions on the factory bra? Will it help? I am planning a road trip to the Rockies and want to buy it for the trip. I won't be keeping it on the car regularly. I don't want rock chips and bug stains!

I heard that putting it on and off may scratch the car. Is it true? I am not worried about paint discoloration as I am using it only for travelling.

Thought about the clear bra but I need it this weekend. Not enough time to get that.

Any thoughts?

thats the exact same reason i bought mine. i had a temp job i had to take the highway to. i noticed a chip after the first highway trip so i decided to get the bra. i havnt used the bra every since i stopped working there.

definately helped. makes the car look domesticky.

make sure you clean the car before putting it on. i took it off when it rained but im told its ok to leave it on (assuming you dont leave it on for a month)

Yeah... I don't expect it to look that nice. I am looking for protection more than looks on the trip. It will only be on for a week.

Mr. TL, how much did you buy yours for? The dealer quoted me $208CDN.

Thanks

BTW, how hard is it to install? Does it require screws etc into the fender? I remember my dads car had that before.

I bought mine off this site from Tim for only $140 including shipping. I don't know the conversion from the money you stated.

I put it on, but took it off a few days later and haven't had it back on since. Yes, it definitely adds protection, so for a trip I think it's worth it.

When I took it off, I had some damage to the paint where the tab inserted under the headlight. It tore the paint about the size of a nailhead right below the headlight housing. Not noticeable since it's hidden, but it's prevented me from using it again. So just be careful and slow when taking it off.

& 1 more thing - mine didn't require any drilling. You remove 2 factory tabs in the wheel well and replace them with screw-in snap recepticles.

THEBEAUD, it is cheaper to buy from Tim... about $25cdn cheaper or $18us. But I needed it Sat so I wouldn't be able to wait for it. Damn...!!! Actually, another dealer quoted me a better price but it wouldn't be here for 2 weeks. I had to bite the bullet and spend the $25. The Acura dealer I bought it from pisses me off b/c they wouldn't give me any discounts. What bothers me more is I bought the car from them. I am going to another dealer from now on. They made an extra $25 off me but they just lost thousands on servicing!!!

It wasn't too bad to install. I am worried that all the pulling and streching will cause scatches on the paint. I am crossing my fingers that it is okay.

Thanks for all your input!!!
