Gas Stations That Gouge Should Be Boycotted

If you find a gas station in your area with unusually high prices, you should inform them you will never buy from them again. Get the name of the owner and call him or her personally.

What a disgrace for someone to profit off of their fellow citizens during such a tragedy.

The price of oil did go up, that's true. However, the higher price doesn't affect what they have in their storage tanks today. They bought that oil at the "pre-tragedy" price.

Besides, the price didn't go up any more than it had gone in the past several months. The big oil companies have FROZEN oil prices and ensured a steady supply of fuel. Any station charging significantly more today than they were 2 or 3 days ago is simply taking advantage.

In my area, there's an Amoco that I go to that runs a $0.05/gallon discount promotion on 93 octane every Tuesday. I noticed that they did NOT do this yesterday, but the prices hadn't gone up either, so I was happy to pay $1.599.

$0.05 per gallon! OMG. That alone would be enough for me to haul down a couple of those huge water containers that gets deliver to your house. After filing up my tank, I would open up the trunk and fill up 3 jugs or something. Just make sure you drive VERY carefully on your way home.

I agree 100%. The places that were charging 5$ a gallon should be absolutely boycotted and put out of business.

Unfortunately these small shops are branded "CONOCO". they are franchises.. The price gouging that you see on CNN happened here in Kansas City (Olathe, KS) I saw them put up the sign to $5.69 per gallon for the 89 Octane. Yep you read it right $5.69. They lowered it 45 minutes later when the Attorney Generals Office paid them a visit.

more story of this incident read here..

Better yet, tell them that you're posting the information on the Internet. Then post it here.

I heard today that the Kansas Attorney General is going to sue gas stations who artificially raised their prices on charges of racketeering. In an interview one gas station owner actually claimed that he raised gas prices to raise money for an emergency donation fund. Yeah right.

I can't believe how low some people are sinking in this situation. Some people have reportedly been calling residents of Kansas City to elicit donations to the relief fund, only to gain access to their credit card numbers. And you think these bottom feeders can't get any closer to the scum on the floor.

There were reports of some area stations raising their prices to $3 - $5 per gallon. I never saw any in my immediate area.

And yes, the price of crude went up, but only enough to warrant a .10c per gallon hike. Not $3 plus.

So yes. As I posted a few days ago, boycott the SOB who are in their own right "Price Terrorists".

Ive also heard that the Attorney General has taken some action.
