this f******* sucks
so I work 4pm-12am...and I get home around 12:30ish...wake up chill for a while and than leave my apt to go see my lil cousin. Get to my car and see that the driver side mirror was messed up. Now there is no damage to the body of the car which leads me to believe that someone took a baseball bat or something to it. Now I called my mechanic (me and him are good friends) and he said he can get the part new for $190 (painted). I checked on ebay and there is someone selling one (unsure of the color...I emailed him) for $75 buy it now. Which one is my best bet? Or is there another way to get a mirror essembly. I will try and post pics of the damage later on this morning.

yep.
I agree, ebay is the way... one piece of advice i follow is check the sellers ratings, this will give you an idea of the persons ability to be an upstanding individual.

I had the same thing happen to my mirror - took it to acura to get it replaced, it ended up being expensive, $300 or something like that. Anyway, the dealer didn't even fit it well, for some reason the glass isn't the same as the glass on the right side (it lacks the "objects in mirror are closer than they appear"), but more annoying is it now rattles. I didn't notice it at first cause I always have the subs on but once I drove around without music on I noticed it actually rattles pretty loud when I hit bumps (however small) in the road.
I would bring it back to the dealer but it's been a couple months and I hate going to the dealer...

Delivery trucks and SUV's are the bigest culprits for causing side mirror damage. Thier mirrors stick out a lot and will smack yours if the dufus isnt paying attention. Especially if you park near a corner. Last year a paper truck clipped my neighbors mirror on her lexus and the dude just got out, delivered his papers and tried to leave. I ran up and confronted the asshole and made him leave a note. Ever since I saw that, I now fold the mirrors on my baby any time she isn't in my driveway.
