Extended Warranty Question

Has anyone that has an extended warranty used it yet? My concern is that it is going to be a pain trying to find a shop that is willing to do the work under these plans for various reasons they may have. Also, is there a lot of hassle to go through when trying to claim something under these warranties? I'm sure they say there is no problem at all when you call them before you sign up, but what if you actually made a claim? I'm almost to 50K, so I am considering getting one of these extended warranties...thanks for you help.

So far the best Company that I have found to work with is WarrantyGold (www.warrantygold.com) They have good prices and offer 0 deductible. Their Diamond Plan covers pretty much everything and you can take the car pretty much to any shop. You can call them at 800-580-9889 ext 4761 The guys name is Gabe LeBleu.

:flamer: They have a $50.00 referral bonus so I would appriciate it if you drop my Name which is Victor and Contract # which is 99385

I went through the dealer. It was just about $40 more expensive then the third party warranties listed above, but it was also no deductable, and I didn't have to worry about claims through another source. With the dealer warranty, I just show up and they perform the service. Of course I still have 4 years and 45k left on my regular warranty, but I bought the extended anyway since it's cheaper the less miles you have.....

Thanks for the replies guys...keep them coming. Actually, I was more interested in hearing about people that actually used their extended warranty and how smooth the process of getting things fixed was.

Ok, so I am guessing from the lack of responses that I am getting that nobody has used their after market warranty yet...

well...

I have yet to use the extended warranty, but I assume since it is through Acura/Honda motor co. that it should be pretty painless (as if using your regular factory warranty that you recieved with your car new). I don't really see how they can handle it any differently, because the records (should you purchase it through Acura) will be in their computer system.

Thanks for the input JSuppi, I really appreciate it. What you said makes sense, but that is with an Acura extended warranty...I was wondering about the non-Acura extended warranties that are out there...

well..

Generally, I would never ever go with an aftermarket warranty if it wasn't from the car maker. Generally those types of warranties are a pain in the ass to deal with, generally the price differences (if any) between the Acura and 'other' warranties wouldn't be enough to cover the amount of trouble they would be.

Personally and honestly if you plan on getting an extended warranty, I would stick with the manufacturer and get the no deductible version (the other version was I think a 50$ deuctible).
