extended warranty
i talked to my service consultant today and he said the extended warranty is offered only when my vehicle is still under factory warranty in which case it is not. is this true? it's a late 03 tl-s.
i tried searching and noticed that a lot of members were able to purchase the extended warranty even when their factory warranty is past due.

service consultant- wrong person- they work for service not SALES which is what you need
People buy cars from the dealer used car lot and get extended warranty , and others walk in and buy one for their car
Until a few months ago- you could buy it online form an out of state dealer!
Now it requires direct local contact to purchase but still available
Call and ask for the NAME of the SALES Manager- then ask to speak to that person- make sure thats who you talk to- when they answer make sure they are the real Manager- not a floor salesperson who wants $500 commission added to the price for themself
Tell them you belong to acurazine- the worlds largest gathering place of acura owners of every model- they are members of azine and told you to ~ask for the hookup~

In your case, that guy is correct. Dealer will not sell extended warranty to current owner if the car is not currently under factory warranty. You will just have to buy extended warranty from other companies. If you are trying to buy a car that is not covered under bumper to bumper manufacturer warranty, then that is different; they will try to sell you extended warranty at the time you buy the car.

Don't purchase through the dealer, they are a broker, and just making a profit on you... go directly to the warranty company. Check out Warranties Gone Wild its a research site and you can learn everything you need to know.....
