Extended Warranty

Hi guys,

I am buying a silver '03 TL S w/ Navigation. Im paying $31,010 plus tax.
All in all, I think I am gonna end up paying like $33,200 out the door. Sounds good ?

I was wondering if any of you would recommend getting an extended warranty. Is it worth getting or spending the extra $1000. There are few good online warrnty quotes that i got and they all range from $800 - $ 1000 for 7yr/ 100,000 miles.

Or am I better off just buying the car with the standard warranty, cuz i am not planning on putting heavy mileage on the car.

Plese advise
ash...

I personally went with the Extended Warranty through Acura. It was around $900 for 5 years / 100k miles. Basically I just extended the miles since I put on about 21k per year....

I checked into the 3rd party warranties, however, they were only a little bit cheaper, so I figured I'd save the hassle and get the one through the dealer.....

If you decide the warranty would the way to go, do not let them sell you anything other than the Acura warranty. I've seen to many repairs turned down by second tier companies to justify ever buying from anyone other than the manufacturer. They'll usually try to push the after-market warranty because they have more profit built in to its price.

something to think about

If you are not a heavy driver, I would not buy the extended warranty. The car comes with a 4yr/50k mile warranty. The 7yr/100k extended would not kick in until the original warranty expires, making it a 3yr/50k warranty. You say the cost is between $800 and $1000. If you buy it, your repair costs need to equal the warranty price in order to get your money's worth. If your car never needs $800 - 1000 worth of warranty work, you have wasted your money. Put the $800-1000 into a rainy day account at the bank, and use the money to fix your car IF you have any problems.
