Question Extended Warranty???

I know that the basic warranty is 4 years/50K miles. But how far does the extended warranty cover?

BTW, what is included in the 48K mile service? My TL is approaching 48K and I am bringing it into the dealer soon.

Thanks!

I got the extended warranty when I bought my TL. I knew that I was going to drive a lot. But I don't remember how much I paid for it. When I go in for the 48K service, I will ask them about it.

Basic already covers 5 years... so buying the 7 year extended warranty, you are only getting three additional years of coverage for that outrageous amount. I don't think it's worth it. Now, if they are willing to negotiate the price and lower it.....

I agree the extra years arent a big deal. But I drive 24,000k/year to work so with the basic 50k warranty i'd use it up in 2 1/2 years which really sucks. I suppose it all depends on the car. I've had 4 maxima's and have never had any major problems with them, owning some of them 6 years. I was told that Acura quality was even better, but now i'm beginning to worry after reading about all these problems, specially major ones happening within the first 2 years, often few months.

acura extended warranty is good for 7yr and 100k from date of original purchase. It is well worth it on the tl because it has so many electronic parts. Think about it, if your seat motor stops working or your rear defroster goes on the blink. You are talking about some serious money for either of these parts and it pretty much pays for itself if some of these go. I have a friend who had a 91 legend coupe and bought the warranty when he bought the car, he added up all the work under warranty if he had to pay for it and it added up over $10,000. It was everything from a clutch to water pump and many other things. I personally wouldnt buy a car without an extended warranty in the future especially if its a tl, cl or rl. If its an integra it might not pay for itself because of less electrical parts.

i agree if you dont own it for over 5 years it not worth it, as for buying japanese cars for reliability i couldnt agree with you more but if you have a car for 7 years little stuff will definitely start to go on it no matter where it was made.

NO, I got ripped off. I got a 1 year extended warranty to bring it to a total of 5 years and 60K miles. The dealer charged us 2,250 for it? They said it was required in order for them to approve the loan? Can they do that? Sounds like everyone else paid nowhere near that amount. WTF happened to us?

Yeah they ripped you off! There is no way i would pay that much for 1 year/12,000 miles extra. They lied about the loan as well, for one adding on $2500.00 to your loan would likely make it difficult to get approved, since you are borrowing more money! Watch out for those finance managers, they are good at getting over! My brothers ex-wife is one.

Avatar= i did get that from the dealer and i should have gotten it for 750.00 which was the lowest they could offer it(found out later from my brothers ex-wife, who is a finance manager)

SLVR TL: your right about the cost, but i plan on keeping this car for at least 8 years. I can't nor do I want to buy a new car every three to four years. And i have the peace of mind, knowing that if anything goes wrong within seven years or 100,000 miles i don't have to pay jack!

Also by the end my warranty, if anything goes wrong there should be enough TL's in the junkyards to get my parts for dirt cheap. Hopefully not from one of you guys but accidents happen everyday, to include our beloved TL's

For those that think they got screwed, I believe you can cancel your extended warranty and they will prorate it based on time and mileage. For those with 2001, there should not be too much taken off. I know this is done if you sell or trade the car. I think you have the option at any time. I for one will be talking to my dealer about the warranty and expect to pay about 800 for the 7-100.

Has anyone checked out www.warrantygold.com ?
Supposedly the dealer must honor that warranty.

i think you got ripped off for only one year that doesnt seem right, where did you buy it from?

its true that dealers will accept any other extended warranty but what they may do is tell you to pay the bill up front and then you will be reimbursed for it. I dont know the difference in price but if its not too drastic i would go with acuracare which is accepted at all dealers without a question

I paid $900 for a 5 year 100K mile warranty, but I drive 22-24K per year, and I will buy the car at the end of the three year lease for a $18K residual amount. For me, the assurance that I'm covered for 100,000 miles is worth the money. One repair and that warranty will be covered.
