Exhaust resonator

DRINKING HAS A ME PROBLEM
sound clips make it sound really loud. but you hear the tone that it makes. the tips should no make a differance. if you hear droning then you must really not want to hear exhaust at all. i dont notice the exhaust unless im listening for it. I usually am so i have my music off. but if i have the music on at all i cant hear anything. when holding a constant speed i really cant hear it. i roll down my windows to hear it a little more. its not bad at all. i have a CAI and its still not loud. when standing behind the car at idle you have to get near the muffler to hear it. and when people rid in my car the only time that they even know that it has the resonators removed is when i tell them i had them removed. is sounds just slightly louder than any other stock car but not droning at all. i would not mind a little louder. im conservitive about the sound (loudness) of my car.

Below 2000rpm yes I do not hear anything. Also 3k or above. The loudest area is when it is around 2200 rpm.
IF i cruise below 70 I don't hear it but my usual hwy cruise speed is 80 mph and that's when rpm is around 2200rpm. Anyways, I like the sound and I do agree that it sounds similar to 350Z but not as loud.

i would check your mufflers. i only notice mine at low RPM's not when i rev it up. the engine and CAI is much louder. i drive 2 hours every other week at 80MPH to see my fiancee and i dont hear it at all. its quite unless im on the throttle. maybe i got a weird car that is super quite or something. or your mufflers are shot.

yeah...i will just get my small one put back on and call it a day.
That small one must be there for a reason.
I will also have my pipes checked for any leaks.
I will let you know......

you really dont notice a big difference with either one i had the small one off first didnt notice it. drove it for a day then had the big one removed and didnt notice much difference. just drive the car with both off for a few days or weeks then think about getting it put back on. you have it off give it a few to see if you actually like it. chances are it will grow on you. it sure did on me. i dont listen to music just so i can hear it.

What would possibly cause the rattle? I know my stock exhaust (nothing taken out) rattled, then I discovered one of my tips was loose and causing the rattle. Tightend it up and it was all good. That or the piping/muffler is rubbing against something.
Or like Rpappi said you could have a possible exhaust problem..
On a side note, I just ordered some catback magnaflows for 480 shipped, woot.

I have Comptech axle-backs. Will just removing one or both of the resonators be too loud?
I know it's a matter of taste, but I would like some opinions. Thanks!

I went back to the shop and they noticed a leak. The leak is now fixed and my car sounds the way it is supposed to be.
It is much better. Now I can really recommend it.
I do have annoying rattle(fart can like?) at cold and it disapears when my car warms up. When it is warmed up it sounds like a champ and I don't envy 350z owners .

Question.. with the quiet tips inserted into the car, although the resonance may be muffled by them, when you floor it on take off, would the exhaust still sound as good?... new to this, so i figured I'd ask first before anything. Still wondering about choosing the resonator removal or just getting the apexi world sport II. Thanks!

^ My guess would be that you would still be able to tell its a aftermarket exhaust, but would be alot quieter (though noticeable). Apexi WS2 is a great exhaust, had it on my accord, but the only problem with it is that the piping is not stainless steel. I read horror stories of how people starting to experience serious rusting problems after 2 years. But that all depends on where you live.

It looks like this thread I created a month ago has a life of it's own. I ended up getting comptech axle back mufflers and took the bigger resonator out of my 02 TL-S. It sounds nice. Almost like a 350Z on the outside. The noise inside when I'm driving on the highway is starting to give me a headache. (I drive 45-60 mins to work) If I installed those quiet insert tips would that help the noise?
