Exhaust Flow
Hey guys, I was planning out my exhaust setup and I had a couple questions. From what I have read, the exhaust system flows as follows:
Engine>Headers>J-Pipe>Cat>Cat-back system
I was planning on buying headers, and I was wondering if I would have to worry about getting a new J-pipe. Also, I've ready about some headers having a notch or something that affects having a 6 speed manual? I just wanted some clarification, thanks.

I'd recommend DC Sports #HHC5528. They're the best compromise of quality/price and the fitment is good.
jjashaa, did you ever have any legal problems with your headers? I want DC's, but Ive been waiting for them to be CARB "legal", which may never happen...

the first place i took it to didn't want to run it when he looked in my bay
but i smogged my car with my headers and exhaust. no problem. just gotta find some. haha.
you'll still have stock cat so it should and wont be a problem.. some shops just don't wanna do it after they see it.

What are the best headers? I'm going to get a 6spd MT when my AT goes, so I want one compatible with that.

From the selection at heeltoeauto, it seems the Comptech headers work. Is there a reason they are twice the price of the others? Are they the best headers to get in terms of performance/sound?

comptech are great.. they cost a lot more since they got them CARB legal.. which you really don't need in arizona.
sadly.... no other company (from what i remember) makes headers for the 6spd. if you can find an XS-P one.. you're good.

Oh OK, thanks for the info. That really clears things up.
So those Comptech headers and XS Power headers are the only 6 speed compatible ones for the TL? Which do you think is better for Power/Sound? Price is no object.

^ right... but some have gone longer with the flex pipe it comes with. if you're lucky and you can find one.. then i'd def go with it..
my friend is giving his away but only if you come take it off and put on his stock one in for him. lol
