ever redlined your car?

has anyone here used tiptronic and accidentally redlined their car like about 7000 rpm? <-- is your car still alive with no problem?

only reason why i asked is because my first car (camry) i accidentally slipped and redlined it, it blew my pistons.... just got scared it'll happen again and wanna make sure it'll be ok for a TL.

yup. you can redline it. the rev limiter wont let it go past danger zone. but yea, i wouldn't go driving around with it constantly bouncing in the red.

That's what the rev limiter is for.

I redline my car several times a day.

Sounds like you had a MT in that Camry. If you slipped it into the wrong gear, lets say 5th to 2nd at like 80mph then it's the momentum from the car that shot the RPMs up and killed your piston and no rev limiter would save you. The TL is an auto so it shouldn't drop to the wrong gear (not counting tranny failure) and the rev limiter should keep you from killing the engine so go ahead and redline away.

On some bad runs at the track last week, bounced the limiter from 2>3 twice, otherwise shifted about right at 6800-7000 for 11 runs and no issues.

lol, thanx alot guys, makes me feel a little safer. but yeah, ever since my camry incident, i've been watching where my RPM goes, just happens to be yesterday after i had an adrenaline race in a 2 lane road with 3 other cars i forgot to put it back in normal drive being distracted by all of us talking to each other. i was pretty sure it'll be ok, but cant be too sure, just had a feeling i needed to clear up.

Cant do any damage there is a revlimiter in place to make sure of that. On that note i did it all the time and my motor was still running perfect at 200k

These engines will easily take extra RPM . . . I'm betting that 7500 would be okay and not unusual for Honda engines.

I hit 6700-6800 in 1st sometimes. I have a 99 and redline is 6300. My cars hard after 6300 until it shifts into 2nd. I believe the mods I have on my car have something to do with that though. Engine has never been stronger now at 128k miles.
