codes are clues-not diagnosis in themself
what happened before you found this code--what ws the car doing?
any work done recently?

Most of the time p1457 on a 3.2 tl is caused by a faulty CVS valve ( canister vent shut valve ). The valve either no longer works, or does not seal completely. It is common practice to replace the canister along with the valve. The reason for this is because the phillips head bolts holding the valve to the canister sieze. If you try to remove the screws with a vise grip you rip the insert out of the canister. The canister and the CVS valve are not expensive, and are a piece of cake to replace. The canister is located near the left rear wheel, infront of the gas tank. You need to remove a few lines, and one 12 mm bolt to remove the canister from the car. This fixes approx 90% of all p1457 codes on the 3.2 TL.

thanks for a real techs answer drew!
Do you know- is this the same cannister thats affected if you `over top-off` the gas tank frequently?
filling it well beyond the first `auto shut-off point` causes fluid fuel to soak a charcoal element??
or is that one in engine bay?

what brand O2 sensor did you install??--denso is stock--was it plug and play?
its in tight? things exposed to heat cycle--ie: manifold bolts and exhaust parts/bolts/sensors--are prone to loosening after several use cycles/500 miles recheck them
another ziner found several loose intake bolts after thermoblock install and car ran poorly.
I always suspect -and inspect- whatever work was done last~
You may still need a rear O2 sensor--assuming you replaced front which tends to fail first
along with a cannister prob--ck auto recycle yards for one as well as our sponsoring dealers price

If you overfill the gas tank, you really have to go crazy to get fuel to the canister. The ORVR valve ( I can't remember what it stands for ) "should" keep the gas from going much farther than the tank. The ORVR is really ment to keep gas from spilling out of the tank if the car is upside down. I have removed alot of canisters from 3.2 TLs and have never had liquid gas inside any of them.

and one more easy thing to do is make sure your gas cap is on tight.
