Yesrerday, I Did the valve cover, egr cleaning, spark plugs, and TB cleaning all at once and now when the car idles (in park) it jumps from about 1k-2.5k rpms after a couple mins. I did forget 1 vac line but reset the ecu after that. Can't find any other vacuum leaks and the iacv looks clean and moves freely. Its gotten slightly better after driving a bit but still very erratic. I could use some ideas of where to start. TIA!
Your previous post provides crucial context. You used a cheap IAC valve gasket. Your have a jumping idle so there’s definitely a vacuum leak somewhere, id start at the gaskets that were previously replaced and work from there to ID the leak

I initially didnt open the iacv because the throttle body was pretty clean

In addition to vacuum leaks, If you removed the IM gasket below, make sure the 'tab' is towards the firewall when installed.
Also, make sure to perform the idle relearn procedure. Search this forum using those keywords to see what that involves if you don't already know.
After what feels like the 100th time disassembling and inspecting that area, I embarrassingly realized I put the throttle body gasket on upside down allowing much air to pass. Thankfully, the low quality iacv gasket seems to work just fine, but I will keep the old one stashed away incase that changes.
Thank you for your responses. Im sure I'll be back soon with more questions. Its only the 2nd car ive really worked on
