My CEL came on and I went to Autozone and it came up with the code for clogged ERG Valve. Also when I let my foot of the pedal my RPMs drop a lot and the TCS light comes on if I'm going fast enough for it to drop like 2-3000 RPMs. It looks like that is due to the IACV being clogged from reading the board. Also I let my dad look at the car and he said I was missing a spark plug. Could that be causing the misfires along with the IACV?

 

you couldnt be missing a spark plug. A spark plug may be misfiring but you arent missing it. In the DIY thread there are instructions on cleaning the EGR ports which commonly get plugged on these cars. Clean the EGR ports and reset teh ECU and see if that clears things up

 

is the IACV as simple as cleaning the EGR port? My car shut off on me once right after I started it and I saw a thread where that exact thing happened to someone else. The people in the thread said it was because of the IACV

 

Yea, when you take the upper IM off you just unscrew it and clean it.

 

if I were to bring my car to a mechanic, should I tell them to clean the EGR and IACV or the entire Upper Intake or would they clean the Upper Intake automatically? I'll probably bring it to a mechanic because I don't have the tools for it and I also need a new starter installed.
