try unpluging the antenna on the back of the radio and re-enter the code..see if that works.

i had it, cuz the disc isnt properly put in, u were able to see the disc sitting there, near the bottom of the opening, what i did was get another cd, and try to push it up, and it came out, and put it back in

flip open that cover piece that closes/opens when u put a disc in, and see how far wedged the disc is, usually when it happens with me, u can see it on the lip of the opening

next time when puttin in a cd, dont force it, and keep it straight with the unit

I have the same issue on CD-2 and CD-3. They sometime work but most of the time, I would get the same error message. Does it qualify for replacement?

like the only time i got that error msg is when the cd wasnt put in properly, try changing the disc, to disc 6 or something to see if it can re align it self, but honestly thats what i did, put another cd in it and pried up...how far in is the cd in the unit? take a pic..

I have been having the problem where the 6 disc changer all of a sudden decides to stop playing, then displays the ER-E1 message when I attempt to play a CD. When I try to eject the disc they dont come out. This problem has been going on for about 3 weeks. I have found that if you hold down the eject button, you hear a beep. Then like the next time I start the car, all the discs eject themselves... so I really dont know what is wrong or how to fix it.. but i have heard replacement/repair is VERY expensive.

calichris: when you do what you said you did, does it work after?
penance: i cant switch disc, it displays the same message, and i dont see any cd in there.

i was about to pull out the radio system today and try to fix it myself(which would end up in $300 down the drain) haha

I have exactly the issue that you described. The CD would play and stop and display the error message. It would play again after leaving it off for a day.

I have extended warranty for my Acura and I am not sure if the warranty could cover the replacement. I need to start reading the small prints.

Talking Bang on it

When I went to sell my 2001 CL and remove all the discs, I got the same code, and nothing would come out.

My solution: Bang on the side of the console in frustration. It fixed it, and all discs came out. Dust and dirt in the changer can cause the problem.

Now I have a 2003 TL-S, Ant-met., no problems so far.

no, theres no CD lodged, i think they are in placed.

i took it to a professional car radio shop and he told me the aluminum piece is the CD tray. he said it is bent somehow and he has to replace that part for about 300 dollars...the radio cost me 250.

ahhhh. so now im try to take the radio apart and bend tray in place. anyone think i should go ahead with this?

why not just buy a new headunit rather than repair?

well another 200 is something i dont have right now. and this is such a little fix, its just the effort that is involved in removing everything.

update:
I did not notice any bent on the aluminium plate. Unfortunately, I could not find my flash light, so, I won't be able to inspect in detail. Will try again tonight.

You might need to take the head unit out of the dash and completely take it apart. My stock head unit did the exact same thing. Quit ejecting disks period and before that it was giving that error all the time but then just quit ejecting or playing anything. When I replaced the head unit I had to hack it apart just to get my cds out.

No I never got the stock head unit to work again. I had to open it just to get my CDs out because they would not even eject. It sounds like you are on the right track with trying to bend that metal piece back into shape though which I could offer more help but I never got the dang thing to work. I know you said you can't afford another head unit but I would just go that route, there are many good pioneer head units out there for pretty cheap.

yea, but i like the stock look ( more luxurious ) plus with all this self amped speaker crap (which is nice) im sure i cant get a head unit without re wiring or something.
