um, just wire 12v and ground to it and turn it on, if you want to check speaker output get a crappy 2 dollar speaker from walmart or something...

if you just want to test it you could feasibly run 12v in from the battery, and run a wire for ground, then setup a crappy speaker and test each channel

but im guessing you're not too knowledgeable with electronics...

do you want help installing this, or just testing it to see if it works? if it's the former, then we have a lot more to go over... if it's the latter and you just want to test and make sure its a working unit, then you need to somehow do the following

power it
turn it on
hook a speaker up to it

assuming you want to test it before ripping the dash off and installing it, you're going to need some wires and a speaker.

the quickest way to do it is to wrap a wire around the negative terminal of the battery , do the same for the positive, and hook these to the corresponding wires in the head unit. be careful because you're running totally unfused, and this is all at your own risk

turn the HU on and make sure it powers up. hook in the speaker to a channel and turn the volume up, make sure some sound gets to the speaker. then move the speaker to another channel and repeat, just to ensure the HU sends audio to all of the outputs... maybe put a DVD in too to see if it works, etc...

its a kia dvd entertainment system like a top ceiling mount one (dont ask), most of the installation cables that came with the unit look like ribbon cables and rca inputs & outputs (came with FM modulator if that helps anything)...i was just wondering how i could connect it to my car just to see if it works....and i know im gonna have to remove my dash and take out my deck (kenwood KDC-X679) so advice on how to take that out would be much appreciated
