It is cooling system oriented, it is not a boat thingy, it is coolant temperature! If it went to HOT and then fell, it could be that your cooling fans are not coming on when you are in traffic. They turn off underway as enough air comes thru the grill to cool the coolant, which in turn cools the engine. DO NOT let your car overheat is my suggestion...get this checked out!. Another thought is that you are way low on coolant.

agreed! i would get that checked out. you dont want your engine to over heat. thats about the fastest way to kill a engine. lots of little things can happen from over heating a engine, like warping heads. your thermostat may be sticking or like chuckstl said it may be your fans, you may be low on coolant?

well i just got my oil changed, and they said that my resevoir was empty so they filled it up..and my fans do go on..could it be i made the wire mesh cover over my grille taht prevents airflow? they said that my engine is leaking antifreeze..i m not too sure about that...when i was driving earlier it went 3/4 up and i was just driving to see what they had to say and the most it went up was a little over halfway..could it be that they put too much or something?

i doubt its the mesh. if you were low you probably aer leaking some where. our temp needles never move once the get to normal operating temp. i would bring it to the dealer and let them check ot out. they can pressure test your system and inspect it better for leaks.

Thread brought back from the dead. Sorry but I didn`t want to post a new thread. Just yesterday I was just driving back from school and I noticed my Temp. needle was raised up when I was in traffic. I thought this would have been normal because it was a very hot day, so I thought the engine was hot due to the weather. So traffic started moving, I sped up, and the Temp. needle went back down, and everytime I`d come to a red light, the Temp. needle would go back up =\ I came home, let the engine cool down, checked the coolant fluid and it was fine. Also, when I turn on my AC, only one fan works? Is it suppose to be like that? The left fan works, the right fan doesn`t move. =\

as for the temp going up that needle shouldnt move. ive never seen a honda temp needle move unless there was something wrong with the cooling system. my car idles all day long and the temp needle never moves. did you hear your fans running? maybe your fans arent running?

as for when you turn your ac on only 1 fan should go. 1 is for the ac, 1 is for the radiator. when it get hot enough and needs to move alot of air both will run

That`s the thing. I don`t hear my fan going off. Usually when I am in traffic, I would hear the fan turn on, and it`ll jerk up my car a bit. But I haven`t been getting that recently. Is there something wrong with my fan?
