Engine Rebuild (Overhaul)

I have a 2000 Acura TL and absolutely love this car, a lot has been done to it (lowered, rebuilt trans, new rims / tires) and I want to keep it running as if it were brand new. The car has over 240,000 miles on it. Would it be a good idea to do a rebuild?

Does it respond well to throttle inputs? Is it leaking any oil? Have you checked the compression? When was the last time the timing belt/idlers were changed?

My 2001 is close to that (about 236K) and despite a somewhat grumpy trans, the engine runs great.

It responds pretty well to throttle inputs! It idles a little rough and I replaced the valve cover gaskets and spark plug gaskets due to oil leaking into the spark plug chambers. Other than that it runs great for a car with over 240,000 miles!

If you haven't, try cleaning out the EGR port in the intake manifold.
