Engine light came on, is this bad?

Well i raced a 3.5 Maxi off the line. i turned off my VSA revved it up to 1,500RPM and got on the gas when the light turned green. I immediately lost traction and the wheels started hoppin a bit. around like 5500RPM in 1st gear still no traction my engine light started flashing. I stayed on the gas regardless and once it shifted into 2nd it went away. Should i be worried? i thought i heard a squeeking noise coming from my car at real low RPMs afterwards.

I wouldn't worry about it until it stays on.

When you abuse your car like that, what's the big deal with the engine light coming on?

From what i've learned in school, a brief flashing of a check engine light on an OBD2 car indicates a misfire condition. It flashes because it's trying to tell you to lay off or else your going to damage the catalytic converter from excess heat created by the misfire.

Another question you didn't answer.

Let's see, street racing, wheel hop, spinning wheels and you're worried about an intermittant CEL and wonder what might be squeaking.

Here's a solution. Don't street race.
