Many people use simple green. I dilute it in water 1:1, then just spray it everywhere inside. Use a cloth to wipe off the really bad parts, then just rinse with a hose(not pressurised, just coming out with no attachment).

simple green or dawn works for me and i use a 1300 psi pressure washer to clean it off........first i suggest a 50/50 solution mix of either one you choose and soak the engine with it ...if you like you can use a brush ....if u have a cai or other type of air intake with exposed filter i suggest u cover that. Ohh and make sure that your engine is not hott when u do this i suggest you do it after the car has sat for a few hours. you can run your car after to dry the engine or just let it sit which ever u like....i hope this has been helpful...i do this same routine for the rims.
