Engine Block Heater

Did anyone get this installed on the car from the dealer? I was thinking of getting this because my fathers Mercedes had it and it always started much easier (since the oil is kept warm) and heated up faster, etc....only about $50 so I was thinking of getting it.

No starting problem with a good battery with all the Japanese vehicles that I owned now and in the past in the cold midwest winter (Acura, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, and Lexus). I don't think it is necessary unless you park your vehicle outside a garage during the winter.

Its not that I have a problem starting, just normal that you experience longer crank time during colder weather....its just that I would like the piece of mind and its not like it could hurt.....

....unless you forget to unplug it before you decide to back up out of the driveway

If you want smoother cranks then I would start by going to synthetics. I'm not sure if your on that now...but synthetic cars should start up much better then dino cars.

with the engine oil being warmer it will reach the upper half of the engine alot faster, thus giving you more cold weather protection. it will/shouldalso aid in starting faster and engine warm up faster also. if you got the little bit of money for one they arent a bad investment, just dont forget to unplug it
