Yeah, I will have to check his sites.
I have/hate the R1 concepts. I put the rears on first and they were warped right off the bat. Fronts are not as bad. I emailed them, and they never got back to me, to exchange the rears.
They look ok but boy would i love a BBK.

I'm so sick of the oem's, I'm going for the RB+Hawks. If I buy them from heeltoe, does anyone know of a reputable intaller in SF Bay Area. I can go to my Acura dealer who does do a great job on the services (Oakland Acura) but I know they're going to charge me thru the roof and may not even intall unless it's bought from them. Comments, suggestions, support, opinions welcome.

i just installed some drilled/slotted rotors and pads from smokin_hot_deals562, and i love them. no squeaks, no problems as of yet @ 200 miles. stop on a dime.
and these are installed on the wrong side (backwards).

Any import car repair shop can do a good job for you- I would never let the dealer touch my car
Look in the regular phone book yellow pages in automobile repairing- several will have a pic of an Acura or say Acura in the list of what they work on
There are several honda shops in berkely and oakland right there on the border of town- or ask the guys at parts store where to go
These brakes really are standard disc except the rears contain a mini set of drum brakes for the parking brake.
Ask if they know about that- if not- go to another shop who really has worked on TLs
You will want to have a brake fluid flush done at the same time- do it every year as well
Get posting and get 30 to your name- then PM me for special info before you order

Slotted rotors must be installed in the direction the maker intended
Some makers run the slots forward, others to the rear- the bag or rotor should be marked with direction of rotation
Dont run them opposite direction!!- and 200 miles they are not even close to being broken in and properly bedded yet

01tl4tl thanks much for the advice, I've go t a ways to go to hit 30 but really need the brakes now, car's wobbling like jello! From what I've read so far it seems RB+Hawks are tried and tested to be one of the best combinations. I'm only changing the fronts. I have no issue with the rears.
Reason why I asked for recommendation is you hear a lot about botched up jobs from repair shops and I'm sure we have as many irreputable dealers as well but I was looking for a forum members personal experience with a repair shop in the East Bay.

Are there any driving guidelines for the break in?
Reason I ask is I'll be taking a long trip in about two weeks (2000+ miles). I want to be sure I do the break in right. I want to be able to set these brakes right and I also want to test the repair shop mechanics out and see if they know what they're doing before I had over the keys. Last thing I want is a brake down (pardon the pun) on my trip.

As long as the rears are fine its not an issue
I run NAPA rear rotors with Hawk pads as the rears only do 30 percent of the braking force
The RB rotors are ready to go out of the box with a double cross-hatch cut surface for immediate bite!
The Hawk pads have a procedure to seat/bed them properly- takes 30 minutes and then ready for the mountains
PM me for better directions than included with the pads!

The RacingBrake rotors have an arrow cast into the hub so they go on the right way
This is another way to tell quality- the rotors have different castings internally with the cooling vanes, so they stamp the casting itself with a directional arrow
Some brands come in a bag with a sticker placed on the bag- those types generally were blanks that got customized- not designed for the exterior slots/cooling vents

In general- drilled rotors are not for our cars- too many cheap or bad jobs result in failure of the rotor- go with good quality slotted rotors for TLs and rockin pads

Im using R1Concept slotted/drilled rotors front and rear with Satisfied Brake Pads Pro Ceramic with no noise or problems so far after 1000~ miles. And I have them installed facing the other direction.

I got the R1 Concept slotted/drilled all around with Pro Ceramic pads and I broke them in properly. Im starting to get a little vibration and steering wheel shimmy during braking. I think its because I abused them so much after break in. Too many 100+ mph stops.

Try deglazing them
hard use without proper cool-down will screw up the friction contact area
warm them up with some 60-40 slow downs
then get them hot with some 70+ to 30-40
that usually cleans them off and gets rid of vibrations

Before- I thought you said you had installed them backwards- as in opposite direction of the intention of the maker.

Update
its been about 10k since i put them in.
no warping or shimmy at all
still brakes great even more so with the fluid change (recommended for everyone)
still very low dust w/satisfied pro ceramics
the zinc coating is starting to wear off and now the non contact areas are rusting, oh well.
so far , not regrets.

Any rotor will get rust in non contact areas- its all just paint in the end
What many of us do is duplicolor caliper paint kit $10 and use some on the rotors exposed aprts. Make it all nice and black- mini brembos

yeah i really dont care, you cant even really see them thru the type s wheels anyways. but for those who have more open wheels that is helpful.

Yep- I went to 18 inch Enkeis and suddenly everything was exposed
Had it on the rolling drum smog tester recently, and you can see thru the wheels in motion
Have to keep everything shiny and caliper/rotor touch up paint has a place on the shelf

i installed ebay rotors about 6 months ago and so far so good. they stop on a dime. way better than stock ones. and they are quiet no squeeks. the only noise you get is a wirring noise under hard braking. and if the window is down and your slowing down (maybee 1/5th brake you can hear the slots as they touch the pads. lovin them, glad i saved a few bucks.

raceconcepts slotted only rotors. good no warping, lots of heavy spirited driving/braking on EB green pads.
3 years, 35,0000miles and i have a 2inch crack in my front driver's rotor. crack started to develop about a year ago. It starts at one of the slotts (machining caused) and i've been keeping track of it as an experiment for a materials experiment (mech eng). i can't let it grow anymore though as brake dust is accumulating at the crack suggesting dislevel and this can get ugly real quick.
