You make your own conclusions. I think Wayne would know what he's talking about.
Instead of just assuming it is correct, have you tried it?

He doesn't.

Turning autolock on or off is not referred to in the manual (page 81 in my '02 manual). The manual does state that the second push of the lock button within 5 seconds simply produces a beep to verify that the doors are locked and the security system is on.

As GoHawks63 said - go out and try it yourself.

So I guess what it comes down to is, what exactly is being meant when someone says "auto arm" vs. "auto lock", specifically what and/or when does and/or doesn't happen with both, if indeed both terms can be or are being interpreted differently.

I think the initial issue regarding the locks was this--everyone agrees that if you disarm the car (either hitting the remote once to unlock driver's door, and possibly hitting it a second time to unlock all remaining doors--note the key word here is unlock) but don't open any door within 30 seconds (per manual IIRC), all door locks will lock and (I assume--of course, being the lazy person that I am, I could just verify this by checking for the security LED on the driver's door to start flashing) the alarm will rearm itself. The $64,000 question that was initially posed was this--does/can this particular event occur only if you press the alarm remote twice in succession (and therefore hearing the confirmation bee)?

What you're describing (or actually, requoting from Wayne) is slightly different from the event that GoHawk63 is talking about, since Wayne's message mentions about the alarm arming upon pressing the remote twice and waiting, among other things, for you to close the last door. Auto-arm may very well be enabled in the manner in which Wayne describes--however, we're talking about when the doors relock themselves after you disarm the alarm but don't wind up opening a door within the 30-second timeframe. Did/do/are the doors then relock themselves in the scenario just mentioned because someone enabled the auto-arm by hitting the lock button on the remote twice in succession?

Not trying to be antagonistic towards you, pianoman41--what you describe may very well be true; however, from what I'm reading, it doesn't appear to apply to the scenario that GoHawks63 (and I) have been describing and verifying regarding the doors relocking themselves after a disarm if no doors are opened--that this feature is not required to be enabled by pressing the lock button remote twice in succession.

Bottom line--I think we're talking two different, but valid observances regarding the (auto)lock feature of the TL factory alarm.

I think you're right--I was interchanging auto-lock with auto-arm and they're not one in the same.

Just a bunch of diagnostic and mantenance items. I think the neatest one is the GPS status where it tells you how many satellites it's actually using and their position relative to yours. I know it's a feature available even on the handheld GPS receivers, but I think it's cool. I gave directions on how to get to the menu on page 2 of this thread.

Again - be careful when you get to those menus. Don't do a backup clear unless you want to erase all of your memorized addresses, etc. (and have your code card handy). Also don't do a force download unless you have to for some reason. It forces the unit to re-read the units firmware from the DVD. It takes a few minutes, and can actually set you back revision-wise if the manufacturer loaded your unit with a newer firmware version than what is actually on the DVD in your unit. DO NOT turn off the car during a force download!
