I don't know about that. Having a bulb that is more powerful in terms of output will generate more heat. Do the math, our cars only support 55w, and these are 80w, which means they are nearly 1.5 times more powerful. Our fog light housings are very prone to melting caused by intense heat, and putting a more powerful fog light bulb in will be a direct cause of this melted housing. If I were you, send them back and exchange them for the 55w. I would tell them you just made a mistake and need the less powerful ones.

Take care.

no, I've used the 80w Eaglights in my fogs. the only thing is that because of the extra heat they DO burn out quicker and compaired to the 55w Eaglights there is minimal (if any) differance in light output on the road and looking at the car.

I would recommend against it. The higher wattage causes the wires to burn out.. which will become a bigger pain in the ass to replace and more money. I'm talking from first hand experience ... please believe me when I say this. This happened to me in my 99 Accord... with my headlights. After about 1 1/2 years... the bubls start to burn out faster and faster and that is because the wiring behind them are getting thinner and thinner. I came to the point where I was replacing bulbs every week!! One day upon examining my 9006 connector.. it was brown... signs of burnt wiring!! So I advise against it. If you do want to run higher wattage.. upgrade your wiring..which won't cost too much now.. but to replace all wiring after being burnt will be expensive. This is just my thoughts and advice to you!

How do you upgrade your wiring then?

I'm not exactly sure, but melting wires will be the least of ur problems. I've heard new cars have a huge problem with the damage these bulbs do to the housing...min. $200 repair. I have used those lights before but that was in a older car(integra '91) and it was fine but I switched out right away. Stay 55W/65W as the manual says.

if you do a search, 1 of our members, edgalang, used 80W eaglites and he had no problem with em till they eventually burned out but even he kinda gave a use-at-your-own-risk warning. i'm currently running 55W. i don't think it's worth the trouble and repair costs to try get something a lil brighter.
