I don't get it, the TL-S is supposed to rock 260 HP, but you're happy with ~235 @ the wheels? Shouldn't it be 260+????

Fill me in man, I'm clueless about this stuff.

And also, if your TLS is getting 235, what would my TLP get...190

The 260hp claim is "at the crankshaft" meaning it's gross horsepower. It takes power to turn the input shaft and the transmission's gears, as well as the axles and wheels. What you've got left is horsepower "at the wheels" There's always some kind of mechanical loss.

HP lose

JPritch

The 260 HP is at the crank. With the CAI and headers, ZodiakTL is producing more than that. However, the friction from the drive train and the loss at the troque convertor, you loss some. A manual tranny would be better. No troque convertor loss. Oh well! Unless you pull the engine and put it on an engine dyno, you never see the manufacturer's claimed HP.

That's cool. So the 235 is pretty damn good!

So the 300hp GS's and MB's aren't actually producing that at the wheels either, huh?

That's comforting. Puts me at ease. I thought there was something wrong in the design of our Tl's or an outright lie by Acura concerning HP claims!
