Dynamat???

I am re-doing my whole trunk seup with two kicker 12" l7 solobaric subs in a ported box at 1 ohm with a 1500W amp. I have the trunk completely stripped(to fix one of those dastardly water problems) and am re-doing the setup.
What does everyone suggest as to go with dynamat or another company. I plan on laying down a new fake floor of MDF to help with acoustic resonance but plan on sound deadening the rest.I want a little bit of SQ but I reeally want to boost my SPL. Whats your sound deadening preference.

i'm not sure if too many people know about this but its an alternative that works very well..

product is called peal and seal and its used for roofing. i got it at lowes for like 15 (a 25ft roll) and did my trunk lid. worked great. it looks just like dynamat but maybe a lil thinner.. i didnt even use the whole roll but i managed to tripple layer big parts of my trunk. try it out i found out about it in a post in the thirdgen forums

the thing with products like peel and seal and brown bread that are designed for roofing is that they aren't designed for small enclosures, ie.: cars. In the summer the car gets really warm the product heats up emits gases. They may be harmful to us. Dynomat is designed for car use, I had it in my accord and there were no issues whatever. No smell, no peeling.

In the end do what you want. But keep in mind you get what you pay for.

Ok well I have put the subs in the car not even at full potential and it rattles horribly. I have them at 2 ohms currently when I plan on dropping them down to one, and one of the woofers is cracked(Fuck UPS). SO I just want to lose as much of that rattle as I can.

Get some second skin. its the best product on the market as far as I am concerned and you can get pretty decent price on it usually. If you have your trunk stripped out you may want to use the paint on deadener it works well. Keep in mind though man you end up adding some weight and I can tell you from experience your gas mileage may suffer so ask yourself if its worth it.

So true. I recently took my stereo out to replace my fuel sender, my gas mileage was ridiculously increased. I was very hesitant about puttin g the stereo back in. I ended up putting it back in anyway though.

if your going for SQ, drop the 2 12" sub's. All they are going to do is muddy up the music. unless all you listen to is bass heavy music, then SQ doesn't really matter.

but that weight is going to eat at your gas.

Get a good 12" sub (ID MAX, Focal, Soundstream, Soundsplinter, Diamond, Hell even JL)

Dynamat the trunk, it works, and is worth it.

Thanks for the input I think I am going to go with a damplifier product from second skin audio. Here is a website that is handy for anyone else who is trying to choose sound deadening mats. http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/

dynamat is really good but is more on the expensive side. try looking up edead from elemental designs. its a lot cheaper and i hear its just as good as dynamat. Plus, there are a bunch of versions you can choose from.

Elemental Designs has a Dynamat type of material called E-Dead, which is shown on the Sound Deadener Showdown website. You can buy the rolls from eBay and whatever you don't use, you can probably sell to friends. It works really really well and holds up very good against heat. I had experience with it in my previous car and wow, it made a difference from Dynamat from which I heard in the same kind of car a friend owned.
