drl's stop working

drl's stop working
my drl's stopped working on my car and the drl light is on and when i high beam the passenger side doesnt turn on
i changed the bulb but no luck.. i checked the fuses and checked the 3 lighting relays under the hood they look fine
can anybody tell me if theres something else i should check on maybe another relay somewhere... i dont want to pay 3 to 4 hundred dollars to the dealership...
i tried searching but couldnt find anything that helps

In the drivers side fuse panel, what is the day time light, or daylight fuse for? Mine is missing, so last night I tried to place one in and it would not stay in place. The slot was too loose for the fuse itself. Any ideas?

It is an american model...In the drivers side fuse panel, like 4 or 5 fuses from the bottom is a fuse for "day time lights" or something like that, i forgot the exact wording. However, there was no fuse in the slot. I went to put one in there yesterday but it would not grab the fuse, almost like the slot was too big or something.
My questions are, why would the fuse not stay in its slot? And what are the day time lights, or whatever they are called.

since this feature is not required by the US it is not present on US spec tls. in order to make this feature work you would need relays and wiring which your car does NOT have, this is why there is no wiring to the fuse box for the drls on your car.
it is an empty spot on the fuse panel, no wiring goes there, and it wont make your car have drls if you put a fuse there

first off day time running lights or drls for short are a safety feature required for all Canadian cars, it essentially provides the high beams with low voltage so that during the day the car is more visible to other drivers. when you turn your regular lights on the drls turn off.
since this feature is not required by the US it is not present on US spec tls. in order to make this feature work you would need relays and wiring which your car does NOT have, this is why there is no wiring to the fuse box for the drls on your car.
it is an empty spot on the fuse panel, no wiring goes there, and it wont make your car have drls if you put a fuse there

Nd, about the bold....If that were the case, I would be putting fuses in everywhere for all kinds of features. l0l

Yes I would check under the hood, the driver's side fuse box. Then try looking on the passenger's side on the right. I found about 6 relays on the right one time when I was fixing my fog lights.

Now that you mention it, is the connector corroded? The one that goes into the DRL.
Also try removing a relay and switch the DRL relay with that relay to see if it is good.
The ground on the relay may be bad which causes one bulb to go out.

If you have a manual check it because it should tell you where it is. I checked mine and that is how I found a bunch of relays in one area. Check in the passenger's side foot area next to where the door is. Pull the panel off and there should be relays up there. You are going to need a flashlight.
Then I needed a 14mm socket to remove the bolt holding the relay panel in place.
Then I used my manual to figure out which relay is which.

ok so i tried checking all the fuses for drl and i only found 2 lighting relays under the hood and i changed them but no luck still... i changed the bulb too still didnt work... now i dont know what to do... thinking about paying my mechanic to fix it

have you taken off the bumper recently for anything? one time i had a problem with a newer accord where the p/s light didnt work and it was because i installed hid's in the fogs and i mounted the ballast with a ground wire right underneath that light.

i just talked to my mechanic and he told me it probably the drl module.. does anybody know if i can change that myself or should i just let him fix it?
and where might the location be for this module?

The Canadian DRL/high-beam circuit is extremely complex. Unlike the US high-beam circuit which only uses the mechanical combination-light-switch for control, the DRL/H-B circuit is built around the DRL control unit.
The DRL control unit supplies power directly and separately to each of the high beam bulbs, the other leads of the two high beam bulbs are connected together and going through the high-beam-cut relay and combination-light-switch before going to GROUND. This way the control unit can supply reduced power for DRL operation and full power for high-beam operation.
So if the driver-side high beam works, it means that all fuses and relays are working properly. Provided that the passenger-side high-beam bulb is good, it is very likely that the problem lies in the DRL unit which is not supplying power to the passenger-side bulb, but is supplying power to the driver-side bulb.
The DRL unit is located underneath the driver-side dashboard. If you lie down on the driver-side floor and look up, you'll be able to see it hanging down underneath the steering column and towards the right hand side. I vaguely remember that the small black module is labeled with something like DRL letterings.

The drl control module stops working usually because the solder joints go bad. I fixed mine by re-soldering the joints. This link was very helpful http://www.nyx.net/~smanley/hondadrlfix/

Back 15 years ago in Vancouver, aftermarket tuner shops opened up like wild flowers, and people all rushed in to mod their cars and trucks. Street racings became the norm. Unfortunately, many kids over-estimated their abilities and thus fatal car accidents had become news headlines almost once every few days.
In order to curb street racing fatalities, local police decided to monitor car meets for illegal car mods, and also took pictures of all participants for records. As a result, most of us had since stopped going to car meets altogether.
Even thought we have done no illegal deeds, but we don't particular enjoy having someone opening a file for us.

lol this thread makes no sense..
dude, i had the same problem on my old 00.. take a look at the drl module underneath the steering column, its a grey little box. the problem that i had, was that two of the soldered connections inside had come loose somehow, i re-soldered and they started working again. hope this helps.
