Dont Wait Guys

Hey important news here ppl, i know we all are concerned with the tranny issues that we have been having with the TLz, and since the safety recall has gone out few of us have recieved the letter from Acura to bring the car in for an inspection. But here is the important part, i havent had any trouble with my TL since i bought it a few months ago, infact i have put on about 20 K since then, so out of curiousty i called my local Acura dealership just to see if my car is also included in the recal, instead of waiting for the letter to come by, and what do you know, they tell me that my car is also in the recall list and i need to bring it in ASAP. I am like WOAH good thing i called coz after reading some of my fellow TLerz stories the last thing i want is to be stranded on the side of the road with a dead tranny. Anyways they set me up for 09/10 lets see what happens. As i said i didn feel anything wrong with the tranny at all and to my asurance i also got told that there is no apparent symptoms of this failure, it JUST happens. So i insist that you guys call your local dealership to check if your car is on the recall list, instead of waiting for the official letter. My assumtion, why all the letters havent gone out is probably that Acura is taking it easy, since it is a safety recall initiated by Acura itself, and they dont want all the cars coming in at the same time so they might only be sending out letters to the one that they think are at more risk. SO I SAY CALL UM UP AND FIND OUT. Plus the only thing i m concerned with right now is what kinda loaner would i get , i have my fingers crossed for a TSX ( i wish) or RSX.

on a contrasting note. i had mine in to have some junk done and i mentioned the recall and they said to wait until the letter b/c they only had so many of the 'parts' at a time so they were doing them in order.

bs or not.. who knows.

I was gonna do the exact same thing today or this week!! I'm sure alot of us out there (especially those of us that bought our TL's used) may not get that letter. Hopefully I'll get a T or RSX myself or dare to dream a new TL!!!

i called two dealerships, have about 5 in the radius of 100 miles around me , called the first one the guy was a jackass he said " oh yah there is a recall but we dont knwo if your car is on it, you would have to wait for the letter" i called the second on up and he asked for the VIN and a minute later he says yes sir your car is on the list and you need to bring it in ASAP, call around see what you can find out if ur car is on the recall list.

I just mentioned my car was in the second trans recall on the morning of my 45K maint. Anyway, I didn't mention anything about my recall till that morning, but my dealer had parts and installed it the same day. I think as long as the dealer has the parts in stock, they'll do it even without a letter from Acura. But then again, I might have been just lucky; who knows.

i had my oil jet kit put in a few weeks ago and it only took about an hour to do everything... so you could probably hang around until they have it done... i didnt notice much of a difference after they put it in...

i also did not receive a letter from acura but just called my dealer and had them look into it and they took care of everything after that....

I called the dealer in my 'hood and they were really friendly and looked up the VIN on the computer, found out it was included in the recall and set up an appointment for me a couple weeks out even tho I hadn't got a letter yet. He said they were really busy with recalls or else they would have scheduled me sooner. he also said unless you're starting to have probs it's not really a desperate situation.

True that, i was told the same thing as well, my TL has got around 90K miles on it, no problems (knock on wood), but i just had to call and make sure, and as you can see Acura hasnt sent out letters to ALL the recalled vehicle's owners. As i mentioned earlier they probably are holding back on the letters to keep the recall rush at the dealership in check. As far as calling for the 03 TL-S goes, well it never hurts to call and check, breaking in wont be something that i would be concerned with , b'coz they are only gonna look into the tranny and make sure that it is in working order and nothing is going on that is of any concern. And as you said that ur car has only got 17K on it, worst case would be that they would install a oil jet kit, so i say go fo it
