Don't know what to call this...
My friends second Gen TL 1 outta 10 times after he starts it, the rpms start to die and he needs to give it boost by pressing the gas. I think this happens when its colder, as my friends jetta did this every winter, so how do we fix this any ideas?
Thanks acurazine.

unless you have great tools or small hands, you'll probably end up removing the throttle body, so you might as well grab some throttle body gaskets (only like $2 even at the dealer) and clean the throttle body up with some throttle body cleaner as well.
Guys thanks, could you please show me some pictures or post a link where i can find the diy on this, something i defenitly need to take care off....
thanks alot i await your reply.

When you remove the intake and look inside the throttle body it should look like this:

The hole circled in green is the where the IACV connects to the TB. Follow that hole down under the TB and that's the IACV is.
Here's the 2G DIY thread. Look under Engine/Mechanical. The thread for cleaning it is there. Just not a lot of pictures.

great pic!
For those wondering what we mean by cleaning TB plate when doing seafoam- its that round plate inside.
When you push the gas pedal that plate is opened horizontally and more air goes in.
The PCV system blows partially burnt fuel and oil residue thru its tube right into the rubber snout to the TB where it can stick to the plate and gum up- wont seal well at Use spray carb cleaner or TB cleaner on both sides and edges- use toothbrush if needed
Open throttle by hand with the spring assembly to get it all-
clean and lube the spring assembly while you are there
In my opinion its easier to remove the assembly than try to work upside down on the bottem of it

Remove the throttle body, then remove the IACV. Use throttle body cleaner to clean it out. You'll need a new gasket for the TB, not sure about the IACV. Probably need new gasket too.
Use Slusshyy's link for removal of everything.
That pic wasn't mine, I took it from the DIY. Just to show you the green circle is the port for the IACV. Don't worry about the red.

Ok guys, i understand that i need to clean it out, but can someone give me play by play directions, i want to this like tonight if possible, but i need to know steps, and can sumone take a picture of their engine and circle me the parts that must be removed, please i really need to do this.
So this is possible without removing anything? i have small hands LOL
BUMPAROOON! please help guys i need directions on how to this, what i need, and explanation of how this works and why this problem occurs and why doing this would fix it. i like to understand what im working on, rather than just doing it because of instructions, please someone who knows this help me out ill be on abit later and check thx

This works because it cleans it up and allows to function properly. I ended up just buying a new one because I couldnt clean it good enough. This happens because of all the dirt and what not that gets in there and dosent allow the sensor to do its job properly
hmm ic, is possible to me real picture and circle the part and what needs to be taken apart? like 2 pics one from engine bay and one inside already and somebody mentioned that there is some gasket that should be replaced? and how much it cost to buy new one? how come you couldnt clean it good enough? and what product should i get i know alot questions sorry to be annoying i just want to know everything before i start thanks you for your response.
My idle control valve crapped out in traffic yesterday and I ended up having to brake and gas at the same time to keep it from stalling. Installed a new one and after an ecu reset, it idles nicely now. It also cured the problem I had with my rpms dipping as I take off in 1st gear.
Here are some hot naked pics of it:

If you go to the DIY thread, look up the IMRC cleaning DIY. I would take the WHOLE upper Intake Manifold off and clean out the EGR ports and clean this at the same time.
this kid is just asking for too much lol if i get around to doing it this weekend ill take some pics but dont hold me to it i gotta figure out whats wrong with my HID fogs first.
