Post Does the Type S lack panache?

Now that you guys have bought it I was curious to hear how much of a head-turner your Type S has been :-) Have your co-workers asked about it, given admiring looks or comments?? Recognized that you've NOT got "just another new car"?

As for me the most common reaction is that people can't believe that the car has 260 horses...when I tell them they go "You're kidding!" :-)

EVERYWHERE I go people are always checking out my BDP/ Ebo S. Matter of fact, when we went to Bernardi's Toyota last week to pick up my girlfriend's car, EVERYONE inside the office ran to the door and I was greeted by the sales manager before I even opened my door. He even asked me if he could see the interior and assured me that he would not sit in my car. I told him ho could and you should have seen the look on his face. HE drives a Mustang Cobra and he is thinking about getting a S just like mine!

The only ones that have checked out my ABP seem to be other Acura owners (Integra/Vigor) and modded out import drivers. Oh, and one guy in a 3-series BMW. Everyone else probably just thinks it's another Honda. Since we don't have an Acura dealer in my half of the state, all Acuras are pretty rare. I might as well be driving an NSX!

Most "non-car-aware" folks I run into have no clue what the car is or who makes it, and I actually like it that way.

My neighbor has an RL, and he knew it was an Acura, but was amazed at how much different and sporter the car was when he sat in it and drove it - he assumed it was simply a lower end version of the RL and strictly a luxury car.

What really surprises people is when I let them drive it. One co-worker has a BMW Roadster, and he was simply amazed at the power in the TLS and how quiet it was inside.

I don't get too many looks on the road, but then again I may not be noticing because I'm passing everybody :-)

MY ABP is ALWAYS turning heads, and getting approving nods from strangers on the road, seems they love this car almost as much as I do.

My DEP Type S is always turning heads. Maybe the wheels, the car, or the combo. I don't know. Or maybe the ladies are checkin' me out. Yeah, that must be it. I just can't figure out what the guys are looking at.

I like the TL because it's inconspicuous until you figure out what it is. I don't like over-the-top flashy cars and the TL's stock design is just right for me.

And as I tell people: the 260 horses are for my pleasure, not necessarily for others to gawk at.

My DEP is definitely a head turner! The funny thing is, it's alway the guys that are giving me the thumbs up. I guess women don't really care what other women drive. I really thought it was cool when I was passing a guy side by side, me in my new Acura and he in his new Honda Accord. As we looked at each other, we definitely knew who made the right decision and who didn't!

I was actually surprised at how many comments and questions we do get on the car. It is not the flashiest car (a friend just got a new Lexus SC430) but some people recognize it, especially the Type S badge.

I actually like the understated looks. I don't have the wing or body kit for a reason. It allows me to cruise under the radar, so to speak.

Daverman makes a good point: We bought the car for our enjoyment, not someone else's.

Yeah, mine seems to draw a little more attention than the old legend, especially from those with mod'd little hondas and acuras.

I too have only the stock type S, no wing. The ABP color is flashy enough, and I don't need a ticket because I look like i go fast.

It's nice to know that most others don't know what you really have for a car.

I've noticed some people looking, might be the temp tags, the funny thing is I'm really noticing all the other TLs and CLs out there now. I noticed before, but not as much.

Certain cars are associated with luxury, ie Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, and so on. I think Acura is getting there. Maybe these last few model years will bring about this distinction.

The kids at my church check out my car a lot. There is one time I parked my car in front of it and a whole group of people gather around my car. They all said it was a nice car. People always said the new design looks so much better and it looks really sharp.

Cool

I got noticed by a 911 today as I was pulling away from him! Too bad some old fart in a Mercedes 600 was in my way. I haven't seen a 600 in years!

We have an Explorer that is about to come off lease and my wife wants to replace it with an RX300. However, the other day I was at a Mitsu dealer and checked out the new Montero Limited... seemed like a pretty slick package. Just wondering how long you've had yours and what you think of it. Thanks.
