does anyone think the ebrake sucks?

the ebrake on the tl is so annoying...i was trying to take advantage of the snow yesterday, sliding around corners and all, and the brake is so hard to manipulate...once i got the hang of it it got easier...but sometimes i mess up when i release it and i drag the rear wheels for awhile wich is really annoying...a hand lever was so much easier to use....

anyway...does anyone know exactly how that e brake works...im think i could get a shop to make it so it doesnt lock...then i could use it as a kind of brake just for the rear wheels..that would be phat..or course it would lose its purpose for parking...i could have alot of fun with it tho....anyone think its possible?

Yes, I rather have the handbrake style. That footbrake makes the car seem like an American car.

Seriously I have been thinking how to relocate the ebrake into one that would go where the cupholder is... I had a nice one on my 95 accord that made whipping into parking spaces and driftin around corners so much fun! This car bould be like 5 times more fun with a hand e brake.

Yeah but it's no good for the tranny. I always shift into neutral, set the parking brake, make the car roll untill the parking brake stops the car from rolling anymore, then shift into park. It takes less strain off the tranny's locking mechanism

Get a winter beater to do the drift... Or drive an Accord/Civic...

Seriously guys, let's get real... the TL is a near Luxury sedan... Not RX7 drift machine....

well sister does have an accord and that it just so much pleasing to drive in the winter....but it'd be nice to drive my own car...

so does anyone think i can rig the ebrake to not lock when i depress it so i can use it as kinda of a normal brake for teh rear wheels?

i HATE that ebrake

yeah u can rig it not to lock but it wont EVER lock then.. i dont know the exact procedure for it but it IS possible... thats what they did in dukes of hazard with their ebrake. they cut or popped or did something to the ebrake and they used that instead

I only used my e-brake when I had to do a 180... my group of friends and I called it a "1 time 2 time" and I used to do it all the time... once to elude someone who was following me. That was a blast. but now I cant do any more 1 time 2 times cause I lost my license and I dont want to attract unwanted attention to me! ..... although my tires will be very pleased! lol

man...dukes of hazard..great show...any way...on those old cars with drum brakes, the parking brake was simpler, i think it just expanded the shoes in the drum...i want to know for sure how ours works.....i know some cars with disc brakes have like a miniture drum break withing the hub of the disc and thats how the parking break engages...im wondering if ours is like that or if it uses the calipers...but then i wonder what methoud it uses cause i dont want to damage the calipers by using the ebrake repeatively while moving...also..anyone know if its harmful to have the ebrake engaged and be using the normal brakes for additional stopage?

There is a pair of brake shoe kind of pads for the ebrake inside of each rear disc. The same mechanism like drum brake except ours is drum in disc.
