Post Do you like this special steel trim?

It has very interesting color in the picture because there is a thick layer of some kinda plastic covering the steel (looks more like brushed aluminum).

Where'd you see this? I actually like it, hopefully in another shade though. What dealership was this at? I didn't know they offered this trim. Seems weird though because it's with the bowling ball trim, wish everything was like it...

The weird creamy color is the effect of of reflection from the layer of glass like plastic.
It's actually steel/aluminum color.
This was at springfield acura.
This isn't from Acura.

I work right by that dealership.. I'll have to check it out tomorrow and see what it looks like in person. Looks 'green' in the pics.

I like the idea, the color seems a little funny though. I'd like to see it in person though.

Sweet, I live nearby, I'll visit them this week. How much do they charge for that? Do they have something similar in a nav? Any other shades? Perhaps the brushed aluminum without the plastic cover?

As I said, the color is definitely silver.
The protestive layer makes it look green or creamy at an angle.
I know it's hard to picture the actually look, but those pictures are as close as I can get it.
I tried to take a picture directly above it (the dash shot), but it still came out creamy.

Take a closer look at the shot on the door.
That one is closer to slight line directly above the piece.
Can you see the silver in that?

Cool... I guess they won't be negotiating on that sucker. Do they have any other 'customized' TL-S's? I can't wait to go visit them this week to check them out.

It was on a CL. They didn't have the new set for TL on display yet.
Did you buy a TLS yet?

No I haven't, I have from now until November to acquire one. I haven't even sent out a fax/email attack yet. Making sure I know exactly what options I want before I do so.

Yeah, it looks kinda yellow/green/glow in the dark from an angle.
From the top, it's transparent.

Is this something you can add to the car after the purchase or something that has to be done by the dealer/factory? I think it would look cool if it's steel/aluminum, kinda like what they use for the Palm V case(anodized aluminum?).

You can do it yourself afterwards.
However, all the after market kit I have seem are raw metal (just steel or just brushed aluminum). This one is covered with about 1/4 inch of crystal like plastic. It is transparent with a little green/yellow tint.
It's glow in the dark color, but I don't know if it's really glow in the dark.

Sorry, not my style. Wood looks much classier. Maybe a carbon-fiber kit would match the bowling ball trim better.

this looks a lot better in the picture... i saw this at springfield acura in NJ and its horrible... it looks like a whole lot of plastic covering with a creamy center, and its about a 1/8 of an inch thick and makes all the smaller buttons hard to get too, and the cup holder almost impossible to open... ughh... its just ugly... i dont think any of you will want that once u see it in person...

I agree 110%, It looks 100x better in those photos than in real life. I am so surprised the dealer is actually installing that in the car. In person it looks exactly like what it is; a cheap very thin piece of aluminum with a very thick clear coating to it. Its not metallic in feel, look or quality at all. Feels just like a puffy sticker

That is the syntheic brushed aluminum dash kit in those pics. The real brushed aluminum kit is much better looking. I have it on my CL-S, I'd post pics but I don't have a digi or scanner! One more thing it was a biatttch to install, but worth it!!!

Yup, that's the synthetic brushed aluminum, it makes everything feel like a big puffy sticker. You would do better to get a REAL aluminum kit rather than that synthetic junk. I paid $100 for that on eBay and the seller won't take it back... because I thought it would be real aluminum not this rubber crap.

synthetic aluminum?
I guess you couldn't picture it.
It looks just like brushed aluminum kit.
The only thing is that it is covered with the rubber/plastic layer.
You either like it with or without it.
There is nothing fake or synthetic about it.
I never like brushed aluminum kit.
I thought it looks cheap and it burns in hot weather.
However, it looks sporty. It still looks much better on cheaper cars.
As for the rubber/plastic layer, I think it looks interesting. It covers the cheap brushed aluminum look, but it kinda shows another type of cheap feel. I don't think either type is going on my car.

I've only applied it on some parts of my Accord Coupe, since some places don't have trim and they really don't serve any purpose other than decoration (i.e. no trim around anything that has a button or control).

I'll pass on this special steel trim.

However, I did notice something else very different in the interior of this TL-S. The Acura emblem on the horn of the steering wheel is not same as mine, nor any of the other TL-Ses I've seen. The Acura emblem in this TL-S is embossed on the horn, which is totally different than the other TL-Ses I've seen.
