DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT LET THEM WASH YOUR CAR! TL Daddy is right, they have probably washed at least 10-20 cars before they get to yours and then its swirl city. Wash it yourself.

Ahhh... it's so nice to lease a car and not care if it is washed or not... I'm going for my personal record... so far I have not washed it for 6 month... and yet it is still drivable...

Cool

They ask if I need a wash and vacuum. I always decline the wash but allow them to do the vacuum.

NOPE! They don't do a very good job, always leaving spots all over the place. You can tell they use dirty water because it leaves a browninsh streaks! But my guess it that it depends on how busy they are that day will determine how good a wash you will get.

Also, they try to put some nasty black tar on the tires that flings off and gets on the body! I forgot to tell them not to wash it one time and I had to re-wash it when I got home becuse it bugged the fvck out of me.

I am anal about keeping my car nice and clean, that and the fact that I actually enjoy washing my car... it's relaxing.

I took my car in for an oil change last week.
They asked me if I wanted it washed I told them to do it.They have done it 4 times since I got my car with no problems.
The car is always not dry when I go to it.
I have my absorber in the trunk & I dry it before I leave. When I put the Zaino on it & get most of the swirls out I won't let anybody touch it.

My dealer washes customers cars by hand indoors and towels them dry. They also buff it with detailers spray and put protectant on the tires. The inside is vacuumed and the seats and dash are wiped down. The dealer does a better job than the $17 hand car wash I go to in the winter.

I let them wash it also. Since my car is silver, I cannot notice any swirl marks.

NO, I don't let the dealer wash my car. There are 2 reasons: 1-they don't offer and 2-no one cares about your car more than you do.

i originally didnt like the idea of the dealer cleaning the car but theyve been doing it for who knows HOW many years. im sure they take the proper measures to ensure that they dont scratch the cars

also, some dealers have the kids that clean the cars all day and do nothing else. other dealers have the mechanic that worked on your car perform the hand wash. not sure which is better

i only tell them not to when i recently cleaned it

Watch the cars on the showroom floor (check for the darker colored ones, since they show the swirls more readily) closely....you will find a spider-web of swirl-marks all over the car....basically, you need to watch the car at an angle....

These cars (with the horrendous swirls on them) have been "prepped" by the dealership personnel.... no way will I allow these monkeys to touch my car...if I can help it. Vacuum is okay, since they are not hurting anything by it.

just my 2C

If you guys dont want them to wash your car... make sure you have them put that in their work order so it is written down... otherwise.. they usually forget!

Some dealers even have those automatic washes with the spinning things... those are hell for your paint...

Post Do you let the dealer wash your TL?

Do you guys/gals take the dealer up on the free car wash when your car is in for service? I was just wondering if dealers take the time to wash your car the right way to avoid swirls, etc.

I don't. I told them I didn't want a car wash, but aparently they are used to washing cars all the time. They started to wash my car and then came back to ask me if I was sure I didn't want it. When I got my car back it was wet, but not washed. Oh well...next time I'm gonna make it clear that I DON'T want it washed.
