I actually took the tips off and had replaced them with some cheap ones from autozone. I never threw the originals away, i first washed them and put some mother chrome polish(sort of like a wax). Recently those cheap replacement tips started to rust, so i replaced them with the oem tips which were looking real good. Try the mother chrome polish, but first wash the black grime off wth regular soap.

I had Comptech exhaust for about a year and I always used my wheel cleaner on it, worked perfectly.

Any strong wheel cleaner should work just fine. I've never had any trouble removing those exhaust stains.
