Dim Headlights? Replacement options?
Dim Headlights? Replacement options?
Do the factory Xenon headlights get dimmer over time? Do they need to be replaced at any particular interval (i.e. before they actually go out completely)?
Mine seem to be dimmer than I remember them ever being. They are the original lights in my 2002 TL-S.
Should I replace them now? If so, do I use OEM parts or are there better aftermarket options?

yes over time they loose their intensity. You should replace them in pairs. Contact our vendor Excelerate for good deals on HIDs.

2000-3000 hours of use in general- or abour 5 years- Replace bulbs in pairs
Once they get dim with age its time- next you will see pink or purple tint when you turn them on- then one day, one dies and you scramble to order bilbs
Dealer gets 200 a piece for them
search threads for headlights and there are several opinions on Kelvin rating desired
Stock is 4300K- aftermarket 5000 and 6000 are white with blue tint.
I find those help me see better at night picking out lane markings and signs, and in rain recently, they picked out reflector dots in the road so I could navigate thru

the brightest light you'll get (in lumens) is the stock color 4500kelvin in D2R... if you want them slightly brighter, you can get D2S bulbs and modify the base to fit but that isnt recommended as you blind oncoming traffic.
yes oem light bulb does go bad, and if you have a TL that havent change the HID bulb, the color will be a bit of white dim purple. the OEM Bulb use D2R with the little sheal The D2S doent not have it,bulb that I use are 4300k very bright
