So me and my buddy were working on my parents 03tl tonight...Cleaning clogged EGR port, and all that good maintenance stuff.
Anyways, while we were cleaning, my friend noticed that the rear intake manifold plenum is slightly larger than the front...When mounted on the IM the rear is slightly taller than the front...While re-installing everything I noticed that the rear fuel rail is longer than the front...

Has anybody else noticed this, and what is the reasoning behind it?

I did not notice a difference in the sizes on my car when I did my EGR port and whatnot, which is a type s, but I wasn't looking for any differences either.

So tempted to go outside to look at my engine now...

I would guess the height difference is for uniform hood clearance, as it slopes down towards the front.

No idea why the plenums are bigger though...

I think it will be hard to notice when on the IM...We only noticed b/c we had everything out to clean EGR and stuff..
