did you remove the mudflaps on your tl?

Do you still have the little mudflaps on your tl? My 01 is completely stock and I won't be dropping it or anything, maybe a comptech icebox but that's about it. I can't decide whether I like them or not?

Do you still have yours on your stock tl or did you remove them?

I also notice that when I just got this 01 tl, there is significant dirt, grime, maybe even tar or something right behind the wheel flaps. You cant see it unless you get on the ground, but it is still there. Any suggestions?

You might try tar remover. My car was missing the front mud flaps when I bought it. I bought a set to put on it for exactly the reason you are talking about. My car is Tafetta White, so when there is tar on it, it really stands out. A lot less ends up on the sides of my car since I put the front mudflaps back on.

The guy that owned the car before me lowered it, so he took the front ones off since they would scrape a lot.

I have them and don't plan on ever doing a kit or dropping my car. I prefer them because the flaps can take the hits from rocks and dirt without getting hurt. So, I think of it as whatever rocks the flaps stop is one less chance for a ding/scratch in the paint behind the wells. Also, in the winter here (not really a factor for you since you're in LA), snow and ice likes to stick to the underside of your car without flaps (and the snow/ice has sand and salt which is terrible for the paint). The flaps stop a lot of that from building up on the car, but they do tend to trap a lot of snow between the wheel and the flap (to clear it, all I have to do is kick the back of the flap a few times and it all comes loose and falls off - I'd never want to have to kick it off the side of my car). So, there is a trade off.

I like my flaps and think they look good on my car. It's really up to you though. You could always put them back on if you change your mind.

i dont plan on getting a body kit but i am dropping my car... i removed the mud flaps a while ago and i think it looks alot better... im anal about keeping my car pretty clean so you wont see any tar on it.... there were a few scratches after i removed the flaps but i was able to make those disappear without any problem!

in my opinion regardless of what you are going to do i would remove them.. overall it makes the car look alot cleaner!
