diagnostic portal

Hello. After reading some of the recommendations made on this site, I took my 02 TL to Advance Auto this afternoon to have a diagnostic done and the guy was unable to find the portal location in my car! He said that the portals are usually located under the steering wheel. I don't know if this means anything, but I think he said he was using an OED II handheld device? Where would this portal be located?

I apologize in advance to all of the regulars if this question/information is clearly already listed or posted somewhere in my manual or on this site. I didnt want to get yelled at for not doing my homework before posting, but I may anyway. I also may be using the wrong terminology (codes, diagnostics) to conduct a successful search.

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide. I love my Acura TL, don't know much about fixing cars, but really want to learn. This site has already provided a lot of information. Thanks again.

The port where you plug in the OED II computer reader device is located in the center counsel. Its hidden though, its right in that little tray area below where your ash tray pull down at. You know that little space that slants down on the center counsel and sometimes you throw change in there or whatever else, thats where its at. There a plastic L shaped piece thats already sitting in there, u have to pull it out. Its not that hard but go look and you'll see what im talkin about.
