Defeat automatic locking of doors?
Defeat automatic locking of doors?
Is there any way to stop the rear doors from locking themselves by themselves?
Also, I need to be able to lock the doors with the keys in the ignition.
Huh? You ask. Here is my situation.
I am a member of an EMS organization which responds with private vehicles - in my case an '02 TL-S. On occasion I have to leave my car at the scene of an accident, while we take the patient to the hospital in the ambulance. When this happens, it is a smart thing to leave some of my emergency lights (strobes/led's) going so that nobody plows into my car.
The problem is that I need power to turn them on, which means the key has to be turned in the ignition for this to work. (And no, it is not possible to rewire the system so that it draws power directly from the battery.)
The problem is that if I do this, the car won't allow me to lock the doors, as expected, since I am trying to lock the keys in the car. How can I make a mod where I could do this?

I didnt know the TLs had doors that locked themseleves at least mine never have. Lots of times I accident hit the driver side lock pushing it down and that will lock all the doors but never by itself automatically. Is there some way to turn on the feature?

To answer the questions - mine also locks after 30 seconds if the keys are not in the ignition. But not always - it's weird.
As far as the lights - my system is wired so that it only works with the ignition on (otherwise the battery would drain out even without the emergency lights on). I simply want to leave a key with the ignition on and motor off, and lock it with my keyless entry. And yes, I would ride the ambulance and leave my car on scene flashing, so that it is not invisible (esp. late at night).

ok when you unlock your doors from a locked position and dont open the doors for 30 seconds then it will automatically lock all doors by itself, but then if you open a door and then close it then it wont lock after 30 seconds. but hazard lights will work without the key in the ignition
Is it possible to arm the car with the door open? Probably not. But, if you can, then you can lock it with the remote and then shut the doors.
You could at least lock it manually with the door open then put the key in it and then get out and shut the door. But i dont think that would arm the system so anyone could just come up and bust out a window and have a free car.

if you want to lock the keys in the car without the driver side staying unlocked you gotta maually lock it from the passenger side.
we use to do this when i worked at a honda/mercedes dealership so customers can pick up there cars after closing hrs.

why dont you just put it on a seperate power source so you can just turn it on at the flip of a switch with your car turned off. I kno a few guys with this setup who are workin for the fire dept.
You cant change the way the remote works. Thats set up in the multiplex. I would have the lights rewired so that the key doesnt have to be in. Im friends with many volunteer fire/ems people, and they all have theirs wired up seperately.
The doors shouldnt automatically lock. If the remote unlock button is pressed and no one opens a door, the car will automatically relock itself. If you want to be able to lock the car with the key in the ignition, you have to physically lock it from the passenger side
