Unhappy Damn, got a speeding ticket!

I got a ticket from these a$$hole cop tonight. He said I was doing 62 on a 45mph zone. So, I am over 17mph. Does anyone how many points is that? This happened in West Caldwell, NJ. I am pretty sure I going to court for this. Rather pay the extra $$$ and not get points. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks!

I think less than 15 over is 2 points and more than 15 over is 4 points.

NJ cops are usually pretty cool with 15mph or less but they gotta have a cutoff point somewhere so 16 mph or up is a .

dont get me wrong, i hate cops but when driving on the man's roads, gotta do what the man says or else they'll screw you in the end

Youre best bet is to go to court and see if you can get some reduction in points. Lots of times the courts will make you pay the fine but reduce the points. In other words we dont care if you drive unsafely as long as we get our money.

Anyway, go to court there is a good chance you will get a point reduction just be prepared to pay.

When you go to court admit your mistake, say how sorry you are and how you realize how unsafe you were driving and that it will never happen again. Dont BS them.

Why would you need a valentine one if you think that a PBA card will exempt you from getting tickets ?? A PBA card does not insure that you will not get a ticket and those who think that they are above the law and abuse the privilage of having one are just creating a problem for who ever gave them the card in the first place.

Most PBA cards dont do **** these days becuase everyone has one. Get a Family Member PBA card, that works wonders.

Thanks Ajay, looks like I am going to do exactly what you just mentioned. Everyone at workplace is telling me their personal experience and say it is best to go to court and get a reduction. Paying the fine is not really the problem, it is f*cking points that I am worrying about. Thanks a lot guys for all your replies.

oh hell yeah, the word "family" is most important. albeit, it wont get you out of a jam if you get pulled over for DUI (for that one, you better have an immediate family member thats a cop)but for less harmful offenses like speeding, then its almost a guarantee that you'll get out, so long as its not egregious speeding

Got tagged in Baltimore City doing 60 in a 25 mph zone. The cop was not pleased. I forget, but this was at least a 3 point maybe a 5 point violation. Needless to say I went to court. First, I apologized for being a bit aggressive in my passing of a car. Said this was not typical of my driving style. Also let the judge know that I didn't have any points on my record. At the end, I received 1 point and $100 in court costs. It was definitely worth the effort. Don't expect my insurance premiums to suffer too much. Good luck!

Well I think PHOTO COP got me Saturday.
I was driving & he was sitting laid back in the the CROWN VIC taking pictures.
I think the speed limit was 25MPH in that area & I was doing 34MPH. I did not hit the brakes when I saw him but got off the gas. When I past by I looked in the rearview & saw a flash from his windsheild. What makes me mad is here the photo radar is nothing more then a money making machine. But what makes me even more mad is drug boys with paper temp tags don't pay if they get a piicture taken. They drive around in old 80s & early 90s Lincoln, Caddy,Crown Vics & Chevy Caprice type cars with temp tags. Most of the tags are not in the system or are altered or stolen. Bastards don't even know who there daddy is.
