Driving down the road and spilled hot chocolate on the shifter and after starting the car 4 hours later the d4 light was blinking, is there an easy fix?

 

take off the shifter cover and clean out what u can and see if that helps.

 

CRC electrical contact cleaner in a spray can is your new best friend

shoot everything you can, remove the cup holder and go thru there too

and you may need to remove the center console to access the actual shifter micro-switches- there are 3 of them and moisture will kill one or more
Luckily they are only $35 each~, it just takes some time getting to them- its a plastic panel under the shifter, on the bottem side of that are the switches
