Custom lip kit

I am pondering the thought of building my own lip kit out of fiberglass resin and sheets because buying an OEM kit is way too expensive

I want to use some of the ideas from across the board of lips in the past If anyone has sugestions on anything in my new little project pleas feel free to tell me thanks in advance

i really want to make an extremely agressive front lip for the 02-03 because thats what I have

and it would not be at all expensive 15$ for the foam to create a basic mold and fiberglass sheets and resin 30$ for alot of it so not really expensive but alot cheeper than the 150 or so for the OEM front lip

fiberglass for one is the simplest thing to work with and you take the foam shape it with sand paper the lay the fiberglass sheets over it and pour resin on it and use a squeegie to smooth it out the it will harden then you just sand the pop it out of the foam and you have a fiberglass lip its quite simple

Its not as easy as he made it sound. While its not "hard" its not that simple. It taks alot of work to get it smooth and strong. I personally wouldnt buy or build a body kit from fiberglass. Its way to prone to cracking.

I guess it's really up to you. you have to think of the time/cost for it because obviously, it will take up a lot of your time to make the lip. is it worth the oppurtunity cost of making t?he lip yourself as compared to buying an oem front lip (sorry my econ is kicking in)? will the quality be good? i heard fiberglass is shit. it'll break with any instance of hitting something, and i know because my brother's kit broke so many times on his legend that he got pissed and went out and spent a lot more on a polyurethane kit. think about the long run and the time it'll take you to make/remake the kit and maybe you might decide otherwise. you'll save yourself 50 bucks now, but after making the kit again 3 times, you're way better off when it's just the paint rubbing off of the bottom side of the lip as compared to the fiberglass breaking apart.

only problem with that is that its not cost effective

painting a lip costs around $150 each, unless you want shitty paint.

not worth it imo

also, to your last response surfer. PolyU is not cheap. a 1/8 inch thick 24"x58" sheet of polyurethane is about a hundred dollars not including shipping. if you want 3/16 which is what i think our cars are, it's going to cost you about 125, and 1/4 is 150. this is not including the fact that you have to mold it to specific pieces. you're looking at paying maybe 250 for supplies not including what you need to actually mold the parts to your liking. I'm sure you can do the math from here. Learning how to use polyurethane is one thing, actually producing a masterpiece is another. If you screw up, it'll either
1. look ugly
2. be deformed

either way will cost you money. I'm not trying to discourage you, but it doesnt sound like a good idea. I'd rather have acura send me one then waste my precious time and money on something I don't know will even come out correctly.
