Custom Intake is complete (pics)

Since I have the TypeS intake manifold on my 99TL, I had to build a custom intake. It's been done for a while, but I decided to have it powdercoated.

Overall a fairly easy project. I had to fabricate some clamps to attach the piping to the car. I ended up using 3" exhaust pipe clamps to do it.

Let me know what you think. The color is AEM red.

Here was the before picture

Sure, I'll build one for anyone with my setup (TypeS TB and TLP IM). I don't believe there are many people running the TypeS TB.

Looks very professional. Nice and clean. Just put a shiny NSXNEXT emblem on there and you will start a trend!

hopefully more HP, if the TB makes a small difference it stands to reason a 2 stage intake with larger openings will too

Wont the exhaust clamp rub against the pipe, with the vibration of the engine? eventually rubbing off the paint and possibly making a hole in the pipe?

The clamps are on very tight. They're not gonna move.

Im lost. You siad you built a custom intake since you have the Type S intake manifold. You then mention that your setup is TLS TB and TLP IM. Which one is it? It looks like a TLP IM.

From what Ive read, swapping the IM is a headache.

He has teh Type-S TB on the 99 IM. He has a Type-S IM that he hasnt put on yet.
Why would it be a headache to swap? (for a 00+ its a direct swap) 99 needs to change lowe im and fuel rails. Plus how would you have read that since no one here has done that yet?

Yeah I guess. I have headers and exhaust so I can't really tell you what the sound is. I also have the throttle body spacers which make a slight whistling noise.

Actually when VTEC kicks in my car screams. It's pretty funny if I'm next to someone with their windows down and I downshift and punch it.

Its always fun to do it in places where there is a concrete wall next to you or under passes (my favorite are teh large parking ramps and tunnels)

The exit I get off just before I get home there's an overpass that I go under in 2nd gear. I usually punch it and let the sound resonate off the walls.
