i see no reason it shouldnt fit the 99-03 TL. it is the same design, and no models in that period have the distributor. they are all direct ignition.

I'll be eagerly waiting for your results. please post the companies you plan on dealing with. for a GB this big they should give a substantial discount. of course someone has to play guinea pig to ensure that we all don't get a defective part. I know I am negative..........damn wife.

OK guys, i have a small but important update. I began researching camshaft specific companies that would be an options for us. I feel in order to keep costs down we need to find a smaller location and avoid larger manufacturers. This is my first time attempt to 'create' a new product of this scale, so I approached Josh at Excelerate. I felt his experience would only benefit the group buy. In a nutshell, he is going to help me out with this buy. Please understand I approached him about this and I felt it would encourage people to join the group buy if an already established vendor on the boards distributed the product.

I am going to be one of the test subjects for this. I will be purchasing cores, doing a before dyno, Josh will install, and then I will have an after dyno. Both dynos and install will be done the same day. Also please understand I am not making money off of this at all. All of the above is cost out of my pocket for the sake of performance.

In the next week or two we will start pushing manufacturers and companies. I can't make any promises at the moment, but I will guess that we should have a more definite answer by early to mid august. But please continue to show support if you haven't already. So far we have close to 60 people interested.

y guess is that it will be in the 500-750 range if we get the right amount of people, and i'd say we're talking 15+ hp gains
For a mod so expensive, I hope to see at least 35+ hp gains. Good luck Clean CL

Cleancl Try delta cams, they did a regrind for my brothers F22 accord motor that we built and it was 100 times better than the previous one that we had ground by JG. We made 187 fwhp out a SOHC F22 non vtec NA. Car ran 12.9 on its first fast out at 2050 lbs.

i know jack snap about timing...but dont our cars change the timing anyways and prob counter-compensate for watever change in camshaft position that we do????

Early last year, a local speed shop in my area mentioned to me they had installed TL-S cams into AV6 with approx gains of 10-15HP (with Apexi a/f controller) . I was planning on doing this mod, but got cold feet when I discovered what the price/HP gain ratio was. So would the gains from this new cam be equivalent or greater than what the TL-S cam/Apexi mod would bring for a regular TL-P? And would you still need an a/f controller and dyno tuning? Just wondering....

Actually, once you got all your basic bolt-ons, the cost to squeeze extra HP goes up tremendously. $500-$700 for 15HP gain isn't bad, when you consider a good name brand catback exhaust system will run you much more money for only minimal gains.

Good point. I guess only time will tell what gains shall be yielded.

sorry i forgot to update the TL forums. yes, we have made progress. all the paperwork is done and we have chosen a company. that will remain silent for now just until we actually have the product. i just needed to save some cash and i'm purchasing a set of core CL-S cams (should be the same as TL-S) and i'm sending them out. don't worry, i'm actually pressing this. i will probably be the first to run a set of cams, but i'm not going to be the baseline, just a test subject to see if they fit, run, and show gains.

Ok I know this is a little bit old first off lol.

Anyhow, if anyone can get me schematics of the RL camshaft, or draw up something maybe in SolidEdge or something, perhaps I can have some machined myself at the university's machine shop for testing purposes. Its worth a shot. If I had extremely detailed specs i could make the schem's myself. Anyhow just throwing that out.

you could do that, but we already went through the trouble of getting all that material. now we just need to wait for me to get the cams to them. should be soon.

Good luck. This should be a good mod, but to get the most out of it might require a vafc. I wish i could say i am in, but as of now, the tl is getting no mods. I have another car to race. I would like to get headers, a blower and cams, as well as ecu work, and i think i could get it fast, but i am worried about transmissions. Since its my dd, im out.

let's hope this mod is worth it, I think it will good for a decent 10whp gain throughout the powerband and help low end torque. I will be watching this thread closely, keep the updates coming CleanCL!

89 people have expressed interest from the acura cl / tl side. but don't forget these will fit certain year accords. i haven't gotten their approval yet, their more on the see it to believe it side. but regardless, these cams are being made for at least me. so we will have a set made, fitted, tested, and dynoed. this is not a question. i suppose the question will be if it's worth it in the end. i think the guys with forced induction and people who appreciate the mod for what it is, will surely be buying this.
