Cusco upper strut bar

Got the Cusco upper strut bar Friday and had it on since then. Initial impressions? Well after hitting some mini-twisities, it seems that in general any upper strut bar does actually help. I felt somewhere between a 10%-15% change in stiffness. I was able to take freeway entrances (the nice ones that twists around) at a faster speed with higher control. So definite improvement in entrance speed. Unfortunately, coming out of the turn, I still can't come out as fast...hopefully the CT sways will fix that ...and maybe some better gripping tires. The Cusco bar is from blxmjx.

Do you have springs on the car? How does the blue go with ABP? Thanks for the answers...

I like the way that Cusco supplements the stock bar and just doesn't replace it.

Looks good. Where did you buy?

Where'd you guys get that from? Does or will acura-tl.com carry it? Is the application for a TL-S or does the WRX front strut fit ours? Also peiquinlong, does your lower-tie bar fit with Comptech headers? Thanks.

Allout & power3dfx: The bar was purchased from blxmjx on acura-cl.com. The price of the bar is $165 shipped.

What does the strut bar do?
does it change oversteer/understeer characteristics?

helmants,

I've ordered the OS-type Cusco front strut bar. It's supposed to complement the sway bars in improving cornering performance (reduces the amount of lateral roll)

Effect on oversteer / understeer? Not sure on that one. The car naturally has understeer. Wouldn't the strut bar reduce both over/understeer in the sense that it flattens everything out, thus you'd have more 'neutral' steering.

Can someone clarify this?

I believe the front upper strut bar had no effect to "correct" the understeer, if not provoking it. However, it does make the whole chassis (suspension) a little stiffer. Definately a plus for any car. (Well, some cars does have very strong chassis rigidity as normal 'bar' wouldn't have any obvious improvement.)

In my experience if you can sacrificed the rear cargo room, you should put the rear strut bar on too... It makes the car much more solid.

in lower coefficient surface, people sometime does take off the front sturt bar to gain a little more traction at the front. As it's the easiest to remove( won't change the suspension setting in the process). However, it's really not recommended if you have some kind of stiffer than stock suspension.

The cusco bar could improve the steering feel much because it's directly bolt down to the top of the suspension. Where the stock ones are bolt onto the engine well. It's good to have both...
