Question Cup Holder Flaps

The flaps on the front console cupholder are not closing in anymore. On one side, the flap moves freely. On the other side, the flap auto opens. Neither of the flaps will remain shut. I was wondering if it is JUST the springs or more involved. Also is there a DIY on getting to the cupholder so I can possibly fix this.. Thank you

there was one, im not sure if it is in the DIY section, but you have to take out the cupholder. the flaps are controlled by two gears connected to the "push" button, the one that moves freely slipped off the gear, you can also adjust them to close flush while your at it

just follow the instructions on taking out the center console, you can figure it out, make it a project with a friend, get some beers, lil music, it'll be fun

Mine doesnt open or close......i opened it up and it had the gears and then the spring, it just doesn't wanna close anymore. Seems like my spring or something isn't as tight as it used ot be anymore.

well, even if it was the spring, the flap wouldn't be stuck. Im pretty sure its your gearbox that's causing it

It opens and closes if u manually open it, like the flaps. It's the gear box for sure, i already looked at it. The screws holding in the flaps are like screwed up or something. It doesnt move like its supposed to.
