CTUSA says "No warranty with SC for TLP"

So after playing e-mail tag with ComptechUSA yesterday, they won't warranty the SC if you put it onto a TL non Type S. They said that an elbow must be machined down in order to make it fit and b/c of that, they can't warranty the part, stating they don't know what the long term effects on the SC are b/c of the adjustments. The SC was specifically made for the TLS.

This obviously just makes me even more jealous of you TLS owners

Furthermore, he won't really give me a straight answer as to if it will function the same way it does on the TLS. He just dances around it saying "the kit isn't made for a stock model TL" I kept persisting by asking "but in theory it would b/c the motor is the same right?" But again, he dances around the question at hand. I think he's just covering his own a$$ and doesn't want to admit that it's just some adjusting to get it to work.

WTF

well yah I'm guessing they do this to cover their own a$$. If nothing happens to your car after installing the SC then your in the clear, and so are they. But if they tell you that nothing will happen, and your engine overtime overheats, and ends up seizing, and comptech had already told you nothing would happen, then you would try to hold them liable. It's probably their company policy to read you the rules out of the book. My guess though is nothing will happen. But obviously you still run that slight risk.

I know, man. That's why I'm hesitant to go for it. It would be great if I had enough $$ to try it and not care either way, but I don't + I'd be sooooo pi$$ed at myself if it focked my car up...

yah, well I guess you always run that risk. But there has to be someone who has a 99TL, or a TL-P with a SC. Have you searched for anyone who has done it, and is problem free?

ummm, try google, this site, acur@w0rld...

I don't know though, sit down for like 1 hour, I'm sure you can find someone who has done it.

BTW is it the same to put a Supercharger on an 00-01 TL-P and putting a SC on your '99???

wait a second, will the V6 accord fit the TL-P. I mean if a V6 accord can handle a supercharger, I don't see why yours couldn't.

I found something!!!

http://www.splittingimagez.com/compt...erchargers.htm

look at the list, it says 99 - 03 [3.2 TL] and 01 - 03 [3.2 CL] Kit

the part number is 350-061, which means it should work. And this is a CT supercharger too...

tell me what you think?

Dude, your the focking man!!

I have another message into the guy at Comptech as we speak. Hopefully, he can shed some light on this for me. I mean, if this website is saying that they have a Comptech SC for my TLP then, it had to come from Comptech (hence the name) right?

Well, he says that Comptech doesn't stand behind that b/c they don't deal directly with them, they go through on of their distributors. So, I guess we're dancing again.

I just want to know what I have to do to make this thing work on my car without focking it up in the process...

Yah, you would have to find someone who deals with Acura's, and not the dealership because as soon as they see a SC in your car, they will blame every problem from here on in on the the SC. What I would do is find a garage designed for imports, or better yet, for Honda and Acura, and see if they're willing to put the SC in for you. I would make sure though that they have some past experience with this kind of stuff. Having to modify parts of the engine and SC to make it fit can get pretty tricky.

keep me posted and let me know what happens.

I have spoken to some guys that do engine swaps and stuff. They say that the accord kit would be a good fit and need minor mods. Also they say that us TL-P guys with our lower compression will make more horsepower than the Type S guys would. Not saying that we will make more at the end, just saying that the supercharger will make more on our cars, than it does on a type s.

bigman,

do you know which one your friends were talking about? There are 2 different setups for the V6 accord

1. http://solar.innercite.com/comptech/sc_av6.html

2. http://solar.innercite.com/comptech/sc_av6_2002.html

Thanks for the input...I'm soooooo psyched if your friends are right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yah that's what I was saying earlier, I figured that one of the Accord V6 SC's would fit in a TL-P. They're probably the same engine, with the TL-P having a bit more displacement, HP and Torque. Other then that, I'm sure all they're parts are pretty similar.
