Post Crunching sound hitting brakes

Last night I was getting off the freeway going about 80 down the exit ramp. I had 3 peeps in the car. I did a very fast stop, downshifted using SS and hit the brakes pretty hard. The music was blasting but I still heard (and felt through the brake pedal) a crunching noise the last 2 seconds or so of my stop. I really don't think it was the sound of the car sliding on the pavement... any ideas what it could've been?

Sounds like some sort of particulate intrusion between the rotor and braking compound.

Probably just the ABS going off. This is normal it happens to me all the time when I brake hard.

I don't know how the ABS sounds in the Acura but my friends 8 year old Ford pickup truck sounds/feels like its riding over railroad track when it goes on.

We have 2nd gen ABS, we don't get that pulsating, wtf is going on, sensation that means ABS is working....actually i've never tried the ABS myself.....never needed it, or noticed it working in the rain....need to go for a little drive now.

I wouldn't really worry about it, check your brake fluid level, see if the pedal feel has changed at all. Then repeat, sometimes if you have the windows down you'll hear your tires making all sorts of interesting noises when you brake hard.

I got the same sound and feel on a patch of ice. It was my ABS.

Hmm... does anyone think it might be the ABS? I'll have to try another emergency stop before I put on the new rubber.
