Cruise No-Go

Hey guys, been a while since i posted but anyways here goes. I've had my tl for a year and some change now and since day one i have never had cruise control. I didnt really mind much but im just starting to see if I can fix it. I've searched and seen the threads of the people having the plastic piece on the throttle broken but mine is still in intact. Fuse is good and i changed the steering wheel switch with a new one. Still no-go. Has anyone tried anything else?

try a different fuse just to be sure, and the cruise relay

the TL runs its power thru many relays for everything,,the same color ones are interchangeable.. to test one out

your cruise cable moves with the throttle, and all the way to its attacment ?

Are you hitting the cruise control button first on the dash? Solid green light embedded in the switch should illuminate.

Secondly, is speed 25mph+?

Third, does 'Cruise Control' show up on the instrument cluster when you hit the 'Set' button on the steering wheel switch?

If all three answers are yes, but the speed does not take, I would look into the throttle linkage & the cruise control actuator. Actuator is near the side engine mount...I had to replace mine since the car gave me indications that cruise control speed was set but would just coast when I took my foot off the gas.

Sorry if i was to vague. I will try a different fuse in the morning. I have tried to move it at the ass. on the passenger side and yes it does when i pull on it. But when i go to move the throttle on the throttle body it doesn't move along with it moves so I don't know of the cruise has to move with the throttle all the time. And when i press the main i get the green led but it does not activate at all.

to help me understand:
you ck'd the cruise cable at the actuator and pulling on the cruise cable/wire makes something else move in the actuator?

and at the TB end, the cruise cable does NOT move with the throttle rotation?
Does it rise up off the rotator spindle as throttle moves,,as throttle cable stays planted in the device?
or what exactly happens--this is important info
BOTH cables move with the throttle useage
otherwise how would it work!

You may have a binding in the cable- so it sticks
remove cable from TB attachment and spray silicone, wd or deep creep into the cable and move back and forth to lube
Harbor freight tools sells a `cable oiler tool` for $4
it clamps around the end of cable housing and has hole for straw from spray can
works awesome
bike shop wanted 15 bucks for the same tool !!

Just for grins, while driving down the street with your left foot pull up on the brake pedal and hold it and try to set the cruise.

Sorry guys i was a bit tired last night. Let me be more detail. When i take off the intake manifold cover the cruise cable holder is not broken. When i take off the top of the cruise actuator and pull on the cord, i can see it move at the both the throttle and cruise cable move at the throttle. Now when i go to the throttle body and go to move the throttle cable, only the throttle moves and the cruise does not come with it. If i need to be a little more clearer just let me know. I really appreciate the help guys.

so the part of the TB throttle assembly with the cruise cable is NOT moving when throttle operated?
as if it were broken between the 2 cable operating mechanism--
half of it works --the other half stays in place?

did you do that test with person on gas pedal, or just moving throttle with fingers?
try both ways

look under brake pedal at cruise disconnect switch--one is brake lights the other cruise-
if its loose it wont work
